Not to sound like a broken record, but this intake may date code as a Cj but it definately is not a SCJ. The difference in the ports is huge. The CJ is another term for Thunder jet or stock 429.

The entire stamp is D0OE-9425-C

D = 70's
0 = 1970
O = Torino in 1970
E = Engine

What does the 9425-C stand for??

I know the C means square bore 4150 flange, but the 9425?? Found it, 9424 and 9425 means intake manifold, nothing more, nothing less. So I have a 1970 Ford Torino square bore intake manifold, nothing more, nothing less. The Ford stampings indicate it's intended use when produced, and not necessarily what it came on.

The 1970 Torino, which is what the intake was designed for (D0OE), came with three 429 engine options. The Thunder Jet, the Cobra Jet, and the Super Cobra Jet. From what I can dig up, both the Thunder Jet and the Cobra Jet were spreadbore configurations for a 4v. The Thunder Jet sported the dreaded Motorcraft carb in either two or four barrels (only 4v on a Torino, but 2v's were on other cars), and the Cobra Jet with a Rochester Quadrajet carb. The SCJ 429 had a 780 CFM Holley four barrel. My intake is a square bore 4150 flange, just saying. By the way, if you push good and hard, I think a tennis ball will go up the port of my intake, in case size matters

CJ is not another name for a Thunder Jet. To clarify......

For 1970, the Thunder Jet "motor" was the standard engine in a Torino Cobra "car" rated at 360hp. The Cobra Jet and Super Cobra Jet motors were Torino Cobra car options rated at 370 hp and 375hp respectively. Three different motors very closely related. Those power ratings are factory ratings posted to keep insurance rates down and are the only Torino engine options that didn't change from 70 to 71. Although the Torino Cobra standard engine was downgraded to a 351-4V in 71, all three 429's were available as options.

I'm learning way to much crap about Fords...... UGH! Now I know why Ford land can be so confusing. LOL

While the above statement applies to one motor in one year of one car for Ford, here's what I know about big Chevy's.....

Three sizes, 396, 427 and 454.

All parts are interchangable......

Any question? LOL

James, where did you find out the Ford head information? I'm curious about my heads.

That looks like Hubbard to me.  I can see the cranes in that back where they are building the 190/I-30 interchange.

I found a historical Ford site somewhere that breaks down all the number. For D0VE heads....

D = 70's
0 = 1970
V = Lincoln
E = Engine

Also, the -C =  The third version of the part design.

Remember, the casting numbers will only indicate intended use, nothing more. It has no bearing that the heads didn't come on a Lincoln, but they were designed for a Lincoln. In other words, low end grunt in a very heavy car.

Matt, you've been busy today... numbers are climbing!!
