If the ramp at Welch is unusable at the time of Welchfest, the Cove Between Rocky and Yegua may be in a lot worse shape than it is now, I'd say it's usable now, but in another months time, it may not be so hot, tree limbs sticking up, lots of exposed lake bed already along the shore of Rocky on the East side (between Yegua and Rocky). If it comes down to it that Welch ramp can't be used, and the cove between Rocky and Yegua gets bad, it would be easier boating to go from the ramp at Rocky over to the Cove at Pecan than it would be to go to the Cove at Welch. Most of the time the wind is out of the South, so pecan is nice and smooth, Welch will be rough, especially once you get toward the tip of Big Creek park, that's the worst part of the entire lake right there. I went across there in my boat Saturday, wind was moderate, and waves were pretty high, but I made it, just had to creep/idle through the worst part, then just cruised back across the lake from Welch to Yegua with no problems. I think for the "river guys" the ride from Rocky to Welch might seem extremely rough, but to lake guys it's just another day on the rough part of the lake, but def not impossible. Maybe if the winds were 20-30mph it might be much for some really small boats, but I think most jets would make it fine. If the wind was that high the cove at Welch would be rough as shat anyway. Pecan is always nice, no matter the wind direction really, lots of clean beach, room to run, moderate traffic from wake/ski boats. Who knows though really, what it might be like in a month if there is no rain north of the Lake, it really needs to rain, it's getting horribly low IMO.
