we gonna be able to put in at Welch ? and camp?

yeah you can camp at welch but the amenities are a lot better at rocky, i dont know on the ramp situation at welch we will probably check it out this sat

but thats a month from now ..........we need rain bad.

if for some reason we not able to put in at welch i guess the thing will need to be moved to beach close to a ramp most likely some where around rocky creek, i think pecan is a little far to go with this big of a group/ people unfamiliar with the lake.

What about that Yegua situation, if the lake is that far down, I bet they got a helluva beach out there now.

yegua is closed like rocky was, yes the beach there is awesome drops off quick so the water is cool, but no access from the park, everyone would have to boat over, which is just across the cove

If the ramp at Welch is unusable at the time of Welchfest, the Cove Between Rocky and Yegua may be in a lot worse shape than it is now, I'd say it's usable now, but in another months time, it may not be so hot, tree limbs sticking up, lots of exposed lake bed already along the shore of Rocky on the East side (between Yegua and Rocky).  If it comes down to it that Welch ramp can't be used, and the cove between Rocky and Yegua gets bad, it would be easier boating to go from the ramp at Rocky over to the Cove at Pecan than it would be to go to the Cove at Welch.  Most of the time the wind is out of the South, so pecan is nice and smooth, Welch will be rough, especially once you get toward the tip of Big Creek park, that's the worst part of the entire lake right there.  I went across there in my boat Saturday, wind was moderate, and waves were pretty high, but I made it, just had to creep/idle through the worst part, then just cruised back across the lake from Welch to Yegua with no problems.  I think for the "river guys" the ride from Rocky to Welch might seem extremely rough, but to lake guys it's just another day on the rough part of the lake, but def not impossible.  Maybe if the winds were 20-30mph it might be much for some really small boats, but I think most jets would make it fine.  If the wind was that high the cove at Welch would be rough as shat anyway. Pecan is always nice, no matter the wind direction really, lots of clean beach, room to run, moderate traffic from wake/ski boats.  Who knows though really, what it might be like in a month if there is no rain north of the Lake, it really needs to rain, it's getting horribly low IMO.

John,  Feel free to call me (281-454-9496 Chris) or PM me here on THB if you need me to scout something out in the next few weeks at Somerville, I will likely end up there nearly every weekend at least one day.  I can take pics of areas so you can see their current condition if you need them for planning.  If you plan on going out there to check things out, let me know when will meet you out there if I can.

yeah if we dont get rain forget the coves and pecan that whole cove on the upper end of the lake is about 10 ft or less when the lake is normal well be on the beach at yegua where its deep and cool, and no f-ing car rims, and with a group this size a break down is inevitable so a tow back to rocky is a LOT shorter, but i agree pecan or deer island is a premo hangout spot, but that is almost a month from now so we will wait and see.

everyone stay posted as im shure you will and in the mean time do this---------> jump.gif jump.gif jump.gif jump.gif(rain dance)
