I don't have any clue what mine will do on the clocks.  It will be an eye opener for sure.  Probably more like a heart breaker.  Its GPSed at 87mph with a poor set up.  I dunno what it was doing at tawakoni.

So far I have:
Helmet
Life jacket
Battery on/off switch
Rope deflector
Tow eye for sponson

Still need kill switch, and drive line loop.  Wasn't sure on the loop for RR, thought it was for the bracket classes.  Seems like a good safety measure though. And I need to come up with some numbers.  I have the bulkhead out of it right now.  Trying to get all delt with before the rest.

hammerdown-bolts for loader, grade 8 at least , no stainless, 2 of them have to go thru w/nuts  & washers - you will go thru tech inspection immed after sign in before hitting water-OKC will have test & tune on fri before qualifiy on sat. thats when you learn lites & holding rope & when to leave  would recommend helment restraint and life jacket with crotch straps sXXX happens

We are running SDBA next season in RR. Gonna use it as kind of a test to see if we really want to step it up.
We are only racing a few, OKC and Choutea Bend. Right now getting the old Nordic in shape and legal to race.
well crap i can run river racer too in the custom, what all do you need to run? i would like to run at okc, but only if they raced at overholster!

From what I can tell and please feel free to correct me..you need a DOT approved helmet, a USCG approved life jacket, a kill switch, long sleeves and pants, and a rope deflector and some numbers.

If I remember correctly, a DOT rating plus a SNELL rating is required for the helmet.

Right, got all that covered.  Don't have the lifeline jacket, trying not to invest a ton b/c if it isn't our thing don't want to have a ton into it.  I might be able to borrow one from one of the club guys for the 2 events I plan on making.

I down loaded the rule book and printed it out months ago, I think you'll agree that its a little vague on some things. I read it cover to cover.  Nothing teaches like expirience.  I'll try to get it all covered and with help from guys like you we'll be there.

current rule book-RR helmet Dot only but snell better,  RR-12 sec. +, the fast guys & gals will run consistant 12.000000000 but that means they have to spot a 15.0 sec. boat a 3 sec head start on the lites, I got beat at marble falls second chance by an 18sec pwc,  its real hard to set there for 6sec while they go

in this type of ET racing the fastest boat doesnt always win , but the most consistant, the start is very important, read up on starting lite procedure

Ok so it is a staggered start? Have to run your number, and win the race?

yes RR is dial your own ET,lets say iam a 12sec boat and your a 13 sec boat , your green lite will come on 1 sec before mine, check out starting procedure and course layout, starting line is 125' from start line, just dont red lite and run your number and you will be hard to beat, still first one to finish line wines as long as you dont red lite or breakout (run faster than your dial in)

I know that everyone doesn't want invest heavily into safety gear like the helmets and Lifeline jackets because they are expensive.  On the other hand you have stepped up to a sport that is fun, but it can hurt you.  The reason for the Lifeline jacket is because it will tun you face up even if you are hurt, a ski jacket probably wont do that.  The helmet will protect you head because if you are thrown out, it will be quick and you're not in control.

If you think it is needless to use this kind of safety gear, look at virtually every really fast boat on the river or at the races and they will have the equipment and it will be used.  My advice is buy it, use it and you will be glad you did, whether you ever need it or not.  Don't be the guy that everyone refers to as "THAT IDIOT".

I was "THAT IDIOT" longer than I care to admit, but I have a good friend that kept pushing me to do it right.  I am glad he did.
