SDBA

I was looking into this last year. It would be really fun but I feel the cost is way too prohibitive. If I really want to go racing, for the cost of maybe 4 SDBA races in RR class I could build a beater Camaro or Stang and race a whole season of ET racing at my local track on asphalt.

I think on the lake I'll throw down some cold ones with my freinds, run a couple of them for braggin rights, then drink a few more.

I got tossed out in OKC this tear at about 83-84 helmet came off (no restraint) and only coast guard  jacket, floated but neck very sore, guess what next , very next race had all that safety stuff, I've been told by earl smith himself that it will happen again and it happens very quickly

I would love to, but to me dropping 5 bills for a weekend just isn't worth it. I know it ain't cheap for them to pack up that timing system and everything involved and move it from lake to lake every other weekend.

I can race Cliif and Matt all day long with a 12 pack and $15 in gas and use the other $475 for some cool shit.

James, racing' me really isn't a race....it's showin' off. Lol.

It's not so much about the race as it is the good times bro. Who knows, with me running a small block you might stand a chance. I'm looking for super reliability for more cruising and wakeboarding this year.

A buddy and I are partnering up.  I've got the boat he's got the camper and he'll be my tow guy.  Going halves on the expense. Other than the 1 time association dues and the entry fee it shouldn't be much more than a trip to Tawakoni. It cost us about 400 to come down there

As I said before, the safety equipment like the helmet and Lifeline isn't cheap, but it is a one time purchase.  (The lifeline does need to be re-certified every few years if you race)  I don't care if you race at the river, lake or with SDBA, please get the safety gear and use it.  If you have a ski only boat, don't worry about it.  If you have a performance boat and you like to play, get the safety gear.

Honestly, I push the idea because I am selfish,  I don't want someone to mess up my weekend because they did something dumb and the lake patrol has to shut the lake down to find you.

We are running SDBA next season in RR. Gonna use it as kind of a test to see if we really want to step it up.
We are only racing a few, OKC and Choutea Bend. Right now getting the old Nordic in shape and legal to race.
sweet!

That's unfortunate, I saw the pictures of it and was actually at the race, but was helping in the pits.
