Seriously ? I don't think that would be strong enough , would it ?

Might be just as easy to make a aluminum bracket and glass it in to the hull . I will wait and see what Stuart finds on his . I don't want anything that will not be 100% safe . Nothing like having gas tanks flying around in the boat going upriver  :smile20: :smile20:

Gas does not effect that stuff.  Actually I do not have any on my boat, however I have used it on autos, and farm equipment with no worries.

If you are going to be gluing things together, I would probably use 3m panel bond. It is an epoxy based glue that is used to glue quarter panels on the new cars now instead of welding. They have some different ones that are compatible with fiberglass and metal. The fiberglass will normally give before this glue does. I can get more info on the best one for your application if you decide to go down that road. Just let me know.

Is that something I could get from my local paint supplier ?

Yes. It is not "crazy" expensive but the gun you need to use for it is. If you have a friend in the bodyshop biz, he probably has a gun that you could borrow.

Am I reading it wrong ? Looks like that stuff is for sealing fuel tanks ? Not cheap either  :smile13: :smile13:

Have have a metal base bonded to the hull with the "clamps" bolted to the base that hold the tanks in place. Mine is alot like yours not much room but they fit fine. I also made my tanks botom feed..

Not the best picture shannon and I can take a better one on the way home tonight if you would like.

My guess is they either used panel bond or a similar epoxy.

Depending on the application, this is probably a good choice to bond a metal bracket to the floor.    http://3mcollision.com/3m-panel-bonding-adhesive-08116.html

I completely agree, however IHMO I think an epoxy based resin is going to be better than the standard polyester fibreglass route for glassing/gluing it in. Polyester resins work fine for the fiberglass but doesn't bond to metal as well as the epoxy or is quite as strong. I would use either the west system with their fiber mat (there is a difference from standard fiberglass mat) or this 3m 8116 can also use the epoxy fiber mat in it for additional strength.
