thin layer of anti-seize on all surfaces (intake, both sides of gasket, suction housing)

That was passed on to me from Danna @ Mike's Pump & Speed. Works great & also keeps the gasket in good shape in case you need to reuse it.
Never thought of that and it doesn't affect the sealing at all?

Never heard of the anti-sieze idea . Sounds like a good idea though . It should help seal everything up and will allow the pump to be pulled without ruining the gasket . Thanks , I think I will give it a try .

Worked like a champ for me. I used that method when installing the pump in 2005. Took it apart last year for a pump overhaul... the gasket was in great shape & it came apart easily. No leakage problems ever in that time.

Matter of fact, pretty sure I re-used that gasket when I put it back together this time around as well. I'll have to check on that.

Awesome first hand experience on reusability and sealing.  Thanks Dman will definitely have to invest in some anti-sieze when putting my beast back together.

I am actually going to be doing both , but today I am working on the intake gasket . I still need to paint everything from the transom back , but am waiting to get a droop . I am going to go ahead and get the pump set in the boat so I can start working out the mounting of the motor .

Dman and spd are talking about the intake gasket from the intake to the suction housing.

yes... and the other gaskets (bowl, droop) I don't use anything. Just make sure the gasket surfaces are clean of any old gasket material or anything that may be there & go together dry with it.

Cool , thanks for the info . I am going to go stick the pump in and start measuring for the fuel tanks  :smile17:

I got the pump mounted  :smile16: I am going to have to put alot of thought into how to make these Imco tanks fit in the boat . There is not a flat surface anywhere to make mounts for the tank brackets , and there is only about 1.5 inches from the fuel filler tubes on the tanks to where the fuel fills will be with the tanks sitting in the bottom of the boat . Not alot of room .

My boat is going to have a nice pair of polished stainless Imco tanks under the gunnels  bling.gif bling.gif bling.gif
Bow tanks are for ski boats  crazy.gif

Have have a metal base bonded to the hull with the "clamps" bolted to the base that hold the tanks in place. Mine is alot like yours not much room but they fit fine. I also made my tanks botom feed..

Not the best picture shannon and I can take a better one on the way home tonight if you would like.
