For Clarification, HAAS is the guy that builds Ford heads, ie P-51's and designed my SCJ heads. HASS is the guy that was at Tawakoni with the really fast twin turbo boat.

No way a junk yard 5.3 is going after that motor. I should go after that guy with the skull head on his scoop. Anyone know that dude?? LOL

Even a small car with a turbo has the luxury of air moving freely from under the car. A boat has NONE. I am completely limited to the bilge vents for all ventilation, and no, I'm not making more holes in my classic hull. Of the few turbo boats I've seen out there I have never seen one with an engine cover. Seen a few blowers under the hood though. Cliff probably remembers that dude at Rockwall last summer with the big block lake cruiser that had a supercharged 505 and a wicked A$$ stereo system. His engine bay was the width of the boat. More room for air to move.

While heat wrap will reduce the heat that escapes it will not eliminate it and the under hood temps will get damn hot. My engine compartment has side walls that are about 2 inches from the manifolds, plus maybe 10" in front and a foot and a half behind the motor. On top, my cover hit the air cleaner with a nitrous plate on it. I don't need a 1,000hp day cruiser. 500 would be cool, and a centrifugal charger can easily achieve that, plus be very dependale and driveable and heat will never be an issue.
Hey James...KAASE builds the big Ford heads... just tryin to keep you guys straight...and for the record...skulls on your scoop adds 2 mph!!!

Insert foot here.... >>>>>>
tn-Foot_in_Mouth.png
And I have those heads too... KAASE.. Or DID have those heads. They are on their way to Ohio now while my LS1 exhaust manifolds are on their way here. I should almost be complete on part in two more weeks.

I should tape a scoop onto my engine cover then and paint a skull head on it. I don't want KONA to pull on my small block.

Coulda said Cliff, but that wouldn't be fair seeing how his 35hp Whaler can outrun his jet boat. LOL  jump.gif

So , how much should I grind out of the bad areas to get a decent repair with new filler ? I also have areas in the filler where the hull was capped ,there are lots of tiny pin holes in it .

There is no quick answer to that question because there are so many variables that need to be discussed first. I will be in the booth spraying all day today, but I would be happy to try to help you come up with a plan of attack for your boat if you want to call me tomorrow or later this afternoon.  David 512-423-7889.

Thanks , I will try to gove you a call .

It was good talking to you yesterday and I hope it was a little helpfull. I know we didn't get to cover all your questions so feel free to call back if you want. I will be in the booth again for most of today spraying clear on the  42' Fountain I was telling you about. I am guessing it will take about 5-6 gall of clear for the bottom half, so it will take a little while to spray, but I will be available later this afternoon or anytime the rest of the week.

Thanks for all the advice , I really appreciate it . Hopefully I will have a little time to get back to work on it this afternoon . I am sure there will be other questions before it is all said and done though . You will probably be hearing from me again .  When you get the Fountain finished you should post up some pics , we dont see too many of those big boats here on THB , but alot of us really like them .

You have a booth that will hold a 42' long boat!?!?!?!  WOW! Now that's a booth.

Yes. It is not real fancy but it is 56' long and works very well for me. I paint on some fairly big chunks of fiberglass but most will fit in it.

Yes some more pics of your work would be much appreciated! :smile16:

I can do that. Just didn't know if anyone was interested. Maybe we should start a thread on Custom Paint Jobs for everyone to post in. I have seen some cool looking boats on here so I know there are some really talented painters around here.

Call anytime with any questions you have. I will do what I can to help. We don't want your helper to run out of things to do on your boat. LOL

Good deal on a rear mount with top starter hole if you don't have it yet.

I got the exhaust ordered and on its way  jump.gif I went ahead and got the Osco log ones , decided that even with the 2.5" NPT fittings they should flow more than enough for what I am doing , and they will be easy to add turbos to when I get ready . Just a few more parts and I will be ready to start putting it all together  jump.gif

Are those the ones from Australia? I'm kinda wishing I would have went with the Aussie ones now. But, the ones I got do fit very will with no issues at all using the stock maniofold bolts. Having no issues is a good thing too.

No , I ordered the other ones that fit the 351c . If they dont get them shipped pretty soon , I am going to cancel the order and go with the Aussie ones .

I like how mine look, but they are heavy. I need to put some batteries in my digital scale so I can weigh them and see how much weight I gave back... UGH
