Thanks for the compliments, everybody! I am really tickled with it so far.

It's still not quite ready to test-fire, but we are close!

I'll have it at Show and Shine, whether it's ready to run, or not-

Not near as much as I'd like. It's been HOT here. 110 degrees yesterday  all-time record for that date! And I've been waiting for some way to get legal with my exhaust . I have the parts here now, and when it cools down a bit I'm hitting the lake! :smile20:

Anybody else been out much?

"What did you have to do to make the exhaust legal ?"

I'm a Bassett dealer, and I bought a new set of their Blower-type water injected 2 1/2 inch tube headers with the 4 1/2 inch collectors and a pair of GBB stainless steel clamp-on mufflers for them. I don't have pix yet , but will post them when I do.

I'm also working on some mufflers for my Zoomies, but they are still in the design stage- no prototypes yet.

okieron-

You can call Bassett racing direct for the best information as to availability, current prices, etc.  Toll-free 800-345-5824. Their website is www.bassettracing.com/newpage1.htm . Unless you are close enough to pick the headers up here, it will be less money for you to get them direct from Bassett. I sell them for the same price Bassett does, but I'd have to charge you the freight from here to you, in addition to the freight from Bassett to here, and from Bassett direct, you'd pay freight only from them direct to you.

:smile12:Hi Eddie; My name is Mike but I`m listed here as dinkyfeet; I have a ??. I`ve got an older model metalcraft, v hull, I`m rebuilding it inside and out. have a 377 ci. chevy. going to change cam and use a B&M street blower with holly carb. casale 10 degree headers. Plan to put a modified 2 speed tranny in it ( powerglide) . just something to play with, What do you think about the tranny? I`m thinking I`ll have reverse if nothing else. You talked to okieron some about the headers this is the same boat. Has anybody ever tried this tiype of set up?????

My SleekCraft uses a B&M turbohydro 400 that has three speeds and neutral and reverse and park. With a big 540 inch BBC with a lumpy idle, I need the low gear to be able to go slow enough (no wake) past fishermen in tight quarters. To run the boat, I launch it in second and shift almost instantly to high, and that works good.
Reverse is handy for backing off the trailer. Low gear is useful for driving on the trailer.
Neutral, of course, for running the engine when the boat is out of the water.
Even Park is good-- for tightening or loosening the prop nut.
But there is a lot of weight involved, and if you don't need the features, the boat will be quicker without the tranny.

I don't want, need, or use, a trans in my Hondo runnerbottom or my Deaver Hydro.

Good luck with your project!

Thanks Eddie; I see what your saying about weight, My thinking was also reverse and low for around the fishermen and docks, wasn`t thinking about prop removal we took park out of it, we may have messed up there. It`s just something to play with for now. Tank you Mike

have you stuck you foot in the hydro yet eddie? how'd that steering do?

No, I've just had it out the one time for the initial checkout.

It steers good!

I did go full throttle for two-three seconds, and it was the best gee I've had since my last ride in a racer!! :smile19:

I'm partway through getting the (illegal) zoomies replaced with water injected Bassett collectors.
