where did that green shovel nose with the injection in the back ground come from??? did you buy another boat without telling us?? lol

It's this Unblown Fuel Kindsvater hydro, that I set the NDBA UBFH record of 170.45 mph at Lake Ming in Bakersfield, Cal. last time out. October 9,1977!!! :smile15:

009UBFuelHydro.jpg

It ran 8,650 RPM with 1.63 gear and an 11 1/8 x 20! Harold Kindsvater Menkens prop. On 96% Nitro.

It set the record on the 13th run ( since the last look inside) at the 13th race of 1977.

I brought her home, ran a leak check on the engine, the worst cylinder still held 98%, I oiled 'er down good, and it hasn't run since. And boat hasn't been wet since.

31 years ago  !

It now belongs to my good friend Danny Griner (Griner Paint and Body in Burkburnett, Texas,) where my Deaver and engine is. Danny's my main man for projects I don't want to, or feel like I don't have time to, do all the work  myself. Danny has been doing all my paint for twenty years, and a LOT of my mechanical work for nearly that long, and he's NEVER disappointed me! Awesome :smile22:

And it's not painted green-- that's primer! He's doing a complete restoration, and it's gonna be a knockout when he's finished! He's kinda trying to get it finished for the May 17 Show and Shine to be held at my dealership in Wichita Falls.

Duanehydro, bsflying, and jdf---Thanks for the compliments! :smile15:

It was 87 degrees here in Wichita Falls yesterday, and Danny Griner and I took the Hondo runnerbottom out and did a few low-to-medium speed check-out squirts!!
It really obeys the throttle and the down-pedal!!

Lotsa fun!!

Eddie

Welcome here, Hud!

Turn good? I'm sure it will, but I haven't had an engine in it yet. We're close, but don't have an oil pan yet. The pan is in transit, should be here tomorrow.  I'm really anxious to take my first ride in a hydro since my last ride in my top fuel hydro in 1984. That one was a 217 mph top-end crash that broke seven bones and took about a year to recover.

I expect this one to be a lot slower, and handle a LOT better in the shut-down area!!

It'll probably be half-fast.

Don't say that three times really fast, or you'll sound potty-mouth! :smile24:

Its a nice piece, I really like the hardware on the boat! With the all alum. Blown 540 in it, I'm thinkin 7.0 around 160 to 170. Are you going to run it on alcohol, maybe a little bump in it! I like the smell of that bump..c'mon! :smile20:

Does it turn good? I was thinkin with 2 rudders that it would turn around in the river pretty good. I'm a flat bottom guy myself, don't know much about the hydros, They are fast.......C'mon!
