Renamed this project to the "Junk Yard Dog". I have a full set of parts that were begged, borrowed and stolen to get it together. Not a damn piece will be new on this except for the steering cable. Let's shoot for a July 15th lake test.

While waiting for the oil to drain out of the Glastron did a roll and tip paint job on the deck. Looks great, like usual though, no SD card. I'll pick it up with the cherry picker and hit the bottom half tomorrow.

Nice in the time it takes me to finish one project James will have completed 2 maybe 3, but then again he does have the luxury of being the boss during the day and that nice workshop at the job.

Why the hell would you paint your boat with a roller ? At least do a half ass job with a paint gun like I did on the Kona . I know you have all the stuff to do it right , WTF is with the roller ?

Lol..at SPD. Sometimes the paint will look just as nice when rolled on as if he sprayed it. James is a different type of creature (Army) so he does what it takes to get the beast on the water.

That is funny...

Rolling and Tipping is completely acceptable in the boat painting world and can be just as good as a spray job just laid on thicker from the get go and less environmental concerns.  On the other side of the pond all they do is roll and tip.

I had a guy tell me once he painted his car with a brush... gloss black of all colors... and that polished out the imperfections/burshlines after it was dry. Car looked damn good, but I always thought he was full of sh!t, lol... who knows, maybe he did.  think.gif

D-man, I rolled and tipped my trailer.....looks fantastic. Matt (Last Mohican) rolled and tipped his black trailer and the finish is mirror like.....

Never did a boat before but if James boat turns out half as nice as our trailers did, I'm sure the paint job looks good.

Gotta agree with CJ.  LOL.  Roll & Tip works pretty good on a boat especially if you are doing one solid color.  I have seen more than one done this way.

yep you said it  :smile26:

yes I did and I know the way things are.  its just a matter of fact that until you prove it then its not going to be true.  I could stay home this weekend and work on it definitely would save some money but then one its good to get out and away and two would get just as ragged on for not coming out.  So its a damned if i do and damned if i don't so i will just let it roll off my back like water on a duck.

you should load all the boat stuff up on a trailer & haul it to Rogers, then ya'll could work on it together & get it knocked out, Roger has skillz...

Oh wait, he has a boat he's already not workin on in the way. never mind... lol
