Autometer Marine are a little more than the car ones. BUT, I'll roll with the Hardin Marine gauges from CP. They are almost as good a deal as what I found and the right gauges for the job. It might be a junk yard dog, but it still needs the right stuff.

I have a brand new set of the gauges from Hardin Marine in the Kona .  I didn't go with the white face though , I got the black face ones . They look like good gauges , and even have the anti-glare faces on them .

Oh, the roll and tip paint looks OK. It's definitely good and shiny but I did it at 7:30 in the evening outside and it's full of bugs. Gonna do a quick smooth with a DA sander and shoot it with a gun on Saturday, then mask and shoot the flake on Sunday. That paint I used is awesome and tough as nails. A couple coats of clear on that and it will be ready getting stuffed with the goods.

Isnt that what aways happens.  You are working on the boat making progress and the wife has a change of plans.  Happened to me last night too but atleast her distraction was talking about the boat.

We'll be at Ray Hubbard tonight too! That's 5 of the last 7 days at the lake!! Hard to get anything done, but I can't really complain about that.

At least your working on a project boat that is not your main boat so you can still enjoy the time out there on your boat.

A new gauge set and a new 460 cam and lifter set are on the way along with a JYD steering wheel and engine scoop. I was hoping to do some more with the DA sander but my GMC's radiator is leaking and have to fix that.

I have a perfectly good cam sitting in the back of my truck.

Unless you have the lifters in order that cam is pretty much junk. No way I would put a used flat tappet hydraulic cam in a motor with new lifters. Flat tappet cams are cheap.

I have done it 4 times and not one of them went flat. I broke them in like a new cam every time.

I don't see a problem with it as long as the cam is still good with no issues treat it like a new cam.

Not worth it IMO when a new cam and lifters can be had for $114. Maybe on a cam with a profile that you really want and you know the history but not on a stock or near stock cam out of a motor with an unknown number of hours that was pulled to be rebuilt because it was worn out.

The cam i have appears to be "like new" per Wayne Calverts who are also very knowledgeable builders.... I didn't post it up to stir a debate Matt.... it's not a big deal as I'm not trying to sell the darn thing.

Sorry if I offended you with my opinion.  I never said you were trying to sell it.  I'll go back to my corner and be quit about it.
