appreciate all the help, after talking to a few people ive decided to order epoxy resin, i feel it will give me more " forgiveness " since im new to this. All good info though, sanded about hours tonight.. Seems like the thing that takes the longist is the damn corners and crack.. Slow but steady!

Wise choice. I use epoxy resin for all the boats I've done fiberglass repair work to.

One thing to understand with Epoxy is shelf life is only 6 months so you wont be able to just keep any on hand for quick repairs and you wont be able to go back to poly so if you need any quick repairs done then it will have to wait until you can order some fresh epoxy.  Also if you are planning on gel coating any portion of the hull that section you will have to use poly on since gel coat is poly and wont stick to epoxy.  Now some will say that it will work but I have it from a good authority that ran test panels and at the slightest bump the gel just came off in chunks when attempting to bond to epoxy.

What that means it that if you use epoxy on the exterior of the hull you will have to paint it and not gel coat it.

CJ has pointed out all the points to why i choose the poly over the epoxy resins

That's why I am actually using Poly and Epoxy on mine.  The transom, stringers, hull interior and floor are all getting epoxy since that's actually where the water will sit most of the time.  The exterior hull repairs will be getting poly and new gel except for the immediate area around the jet in the transom that will get epoxy partly because I don't need to gel coat it and its covered by the ring for the jet.

This argument will never end but I am going to post this link just because.  When it comes to gel coat It's all depends on the prep and use.  For every article, experience, hear say from someone else, there is another one on the other side of this.  I decided to use epoxy after doing the research and seeing first hand failures of polyester resin repairs.  When it comes to structure I would rather use the stronger solution.  I also use screws to put decking down and not nails.

Kyle has more than enough info on this.  I am sure he is fully capable of researching it further and making an educated decision.  How about we give him his thread back at this point.  If you feel it needs further discussion why not start another thread to add to the thousands that are already out there about this.

Wasn't meaning to jack a thread wanted to provide as much info as I had available.  BTW I have read that West Systems article and while they say it can be done in the article, they also have been quoted that it's best not to do it.  I'll leave it at that.
