My nephew just acquired a 72 laveycraft v-drive. He has had it out once, he told me the gearbox would get so hot you couldn't touch it. It had been serviced with new synthetic oil. Casale drive. It has water lines hooked to it but he thinks the valve going to them is broke shut. Any advice ??

Saw a nice looking v-drive come through Kirbyville around noon. Silver and red. Pulled by a blue Chevy with a blue camper top.  Don't know where they had been since the wind was blowing about 40 mph !! lol

Saw a nice looking v-drive on 96 between Kirbyville and Buna yesterday. Guess someone was braving the cool weather !

Got to run the boat today, first time since installing the mechanical fuel pump. Ran Great !! jump.gif  lake got very rough right after we put in, so we didnt get to run it long.  Now that its running OK, i wouldnt mind meeting and meeting up with some of yall  to have some fun..  Catch yall later

Was finally able to take the boat to the lake this morning, first time since installing the new MANUAL fuel pump. Ran like a top! Very glad of that.     Cranked boat on trailer while still in water just  to look it over. Noticed water coming from under bell-housing by starter. Must be a freeze...

Met a fellow jet boater at Toledo this past weekend, from Portt Neches, has a very nice looking Centurion with a big block Ford.  Makes me realize how crappy my engine compartment looks !!  :smile19: 

I'm on my second NEW Holley blue pump. Wired the first one with the fuse setup. Would run about 10 minutes and overheat and shut off. Let it cool off and it will go for another 10 minutes. I emailed Holley, they said it was a bad pump and to exchange it.       Ordered a new one, and the fuel...

454 bored 30, mild cam, stock heads, have no idea what impellar is in the Dominator pump. Never  ran a 454, what is the top end on rpms, say for a quarrter mile, . I cruised at 3800 for awhile the other day.

Do any of you cruise for any lenght of time in your jet? I mean as long as your motor stays cool, you should be able to cruise for awhile right?

Went up to Toledo Bend Saturday to check out my boat (again). Ran like a champ, until the new Holley fuel pump quit !!!!    Gotta laugh, found out you can paddle a jet boat !!!  Lots of fishermen staring at my rooster tail......Found out when i got to work today why there were so many...

Well, after getting this thing so out of kilter that it wouldnt fire off. Took it to a mechanic i know, he had it puring like a kitten in about 15 minutes!! jump.gif jump.gif jump.gif So going to give it a pre memorial day run this weekend.  Was starting to get real disgusted!!

Well, back to the drawing board..lol........boat would run like a scalded dog for about 200 yards, then run out of gas, or so it seems.  can let it idle for a minute then it will go again. Must say , when it was going, it was a Blast !! replaced all fuel lines while at lake, didnt help.  Posted...

My 454 is moderately beefed up, bored 30, RV cam, 750 holley.  ran my boat for the first time at the lake! Took off great.....then ran out of gas.......could let it idle for a minute, then go again for a short distance..................................the fuel pump on it is a FacetPosi-flo...

Well, we may try and take it to our camp on Toledo this weekend. We have a good ramp and floating docks in our subdivision (very few people) where i can have it in the water and tinker with it if I have too. Waiting on some water line connectors in the mail. But I can make do without them.  ...

My boat has an electric 3-way valve on the gas line ( looked it up,its like on a pickup sold at Napa) . Is this normal? what do most folks have? Ive been busy and havent gotten to go through everything on the boat .yet.  Hoping to take it to the lake toward the end of the month.

Studying my new (used Jet) , and after talking to the guy I bought it from, and extensive reading on the subject.  Headers do not have a T-Valve (have one ordered).  Does it matter if the valve is mounted Vertical or horizontal ??
