What if we don't have a Facebook? :)

It was good times. I thought sears was a little disorganized. If it was at town east mall there would have been tons more people.

It was nice to meet some new people and put faces to the screen names.

I took about 50 pics I'll work on getting them uploaded when I get back from mesquite this morning.

First off, Thanks to everyone that came out.  It was good to see everyone.  We ended up with 15 boats.  I would say that is pretty good for a non lake event.

I agree with Robert that the event was a little disorganized.  This was the first time Sears has done an event like this at that location.  This was my first time trying to organize a group for something like this as well.  I do think Toys for Tots is a good cause and I do think we have the ability as a group to draw a good showing for them.  I believe we need better promotion (by us and the event holder) and perhaps a better venue with more drive-by visibility.

That being said, I am going to work on this with the intention of doing it again next year.  It may be with Sears, It may be associated with some other event.  I would like it to be around the same time of year and for the same charity.  I am open to suggestions on how to make it better.

I have some video I took.  I will get it edited and posted as soon as I can.

Thanks Again,
Matt

Should be done processing shortly.  Sound is crap and unedited.  Might want to turn your speakers down.  I have some other footage.  I will try to put something better together another day.

Matt, It would be cool to do this with some local car clubs...that would bring out more people in itself...I know some of the car guys like seeing hot boats too.

Matt, while dealing with this, did you happen to hear by chance of any other places they do this? Like Houston and surrounding areas??

One of the people I talked to did mention that Sears does events all over the area.  I am sure I could get you a contact in Houston if you want me to.  I found my contact by going to the local Toys for Tots website.  They listed all the local events and contact info for most of the event organizers.  Toys for Tots is hard to contact.  They are flooded with email this time of year.  They do not publish a phone number.  The event coordinator I contacted was fairly easy to get in touch with.  Here is a link for the Houston area TFT event calendar.

http://houston-tx.toysfortots.org/local-coordinator-sites/lco-sites/local-events.aspx

I'll PM you my number.  If I can help just give me a call.  I would be happy to discuss how I organized our event and what I learned from it.

Matt

I agree.
Yessir, there are several Car clubs in our area that are always down for slinging some  bling.gif for a good cause! Top it off with a batch of Hot Boats and you have a winning recipe!  :smile17:

Matt,
Each Taco Tuesday at Taco Casa (Beltline @ I30) there is a group of cars from some club. They hang out for about 2-3 hrs. Similar to Wed's. @ Lavon. Might check with them. They might be interested and even know others.
