And before you say my boat is lighter than yours, It had no issue keeping Brent's little boat in check with his 455 Cu In and his boat is a foot shorter than mine.  :smile30:

Hey man, between you and me.... well, and Cliff too since he's gonna read this. I don't think the Crusader is that much heavier than my CVX. I'll bet my hull is close to 800lbs empty. I think his 500+ inch motor has some mismatched parts from the PO. He might accelerate slow, but top end should wind out better IMO. Maybe next winter we'll bust his motor down so he can join the 60 mph club.

If someone has some race car scales we could put the wieght issue to rest once and for all. Weigh the trailer wtih the boat on it, then with the boat in the water. I think my CVX would come in heavier then Brent and Matt, but lighter than Chad and Cliff, being closer to the cruisers.

Should throw weight out of the equation anyway. Just build your shit right and smoke em all!! We'll see how my little rag doll does with needles sticking through it this summer. LOL

Funny you mentioned rag doll.. Here's what's getting airbrushed on the back end of the CVX when the paint's done but before the final clear coat.

Dang.. Can't find it again, but it's saved on my laptop at home. Guess ya'll will have to wait and see it done.

Cool. Man I do have a heavy boat man. I think there's a guy in San Diego who built his Blue Crusader big time and he only got 58 out of it. I thi k it's because of the hook that's in my hull.

I'm all about tearing it down and making a good, solid and reliable motor though!!

I think you are right about Cliff's motor.  In fact I think Duane was right when he said is was a stock 460.  Only way to know for sure is to tear it down.  I bet your boat and Chad's are pretty close in weight.  Those Carlson's are heavy.  I bet Cliff's is the heaviest of the three.  I bet all of them are more than 800 Lbs bare hull.  The Sleekcraft brochure I have says the Rebel weighs approx 926 lbs.  Not sure how much rigging that includes.  Considering a typical V8 weighs over 600 Lbs I have to think that 926 is dry hull weight with no motor or pump.  If that is the case I bet your Glastron hull weighs significantly more than 800 LBS.

EDIT: According to the brochure a 77 CVX-20 dry hull weighs in at 1225.  No motor, no pump.

I can vouch that it's the heaviest. It's a foot longer than the four boats and it's significantly wider too. Plus it's seriously a solid hull as there's no flex at all in the gunnels or the hull.

I think you are probably right.  James boat has some serious fiberglass and wood in the back though that you do not.  I'd be real curious to see how far apart they are.  It might be closer than you think.  Look at the gull wings.  Those things can be anywhere from 300 lbs like Ken's to 800 pounds or more just because of layup.  That is a significant difference in what is essentially the same boat.

I wonder if dry hull includes interior? I don't think the hull weighs no 1,200lbs just because we flipped it with four guys, and one can barely lift 50 lbs. LOL...

We did have three guys on the back and one on the front. The back of the Glastron is built like a tank with a ton of shaped and molded fiberglass and wood packed tight with flotation foam and a steel motor cradle glassed in. My boat doesn't have or need motor plates. There's an F250 setup in there to hold that monster in place.

Here's your rag doll Matt........ It'll be airbrushed on the back, needles and all!!

nice shot there Matt!  didn't miss anything!  ... the Kona is 575 with not a stinking thing in it, the Avenger is 700 with foam and tank, I'd guess James' Glastron is at least 900 with nothing in it...

That logo will look good on there.  I think that weight is basically a finished boat minus motor and pump/out drive with the tanks empty.  So Yes that 1225 would include interior, gauges etc...  Same deal with the advertised weight of the Rebel.  I believe 926 includes everything but he motor and drive with the tanks empty so add 650 for the dressed 400 and 125 for the pump and that brings my Rebel to 1701.  Not sure what the BBF weighs with aluminum heads but according to that same brochure it is 850 with steal heads.  I believe that included the pump too so you should be around 2075.

Sounds about right to me.  That leave about 300 for interior and rigging and 850 for motor and pump.

Oil, battery relocation and plumbing the water lines.  It's on hold until I get over this crap though.  Between the shingles and the upcoming surgery it will probably be another month for me.  If any of you have ever had shingles you know what I am going through.  If you have not, it is the most miserable thing I think I have ever had to deal with.
