Well, ya damn sure don't gotta worry about anything happening to it stuck off in the garage somewhere... :wink:

I know, you could put that Pontiac mill in a v-drive, then you wouldn't have to worry about it at all.  Hard to tear it up sittin in the parkin lot... :grin: :grin:

Just bustin ya ballz a little. :grin: I don't know a thing about Pontiac engines, it would suck to tear up something not easily replaced, so I know where your comin from in that respect. Hopefully it turns out ok & you can keep running it without issue. If not, it may make more sense to mothball it & save it for something else & put ya some other powerplant in the boat & go on with things.  :smile17:

If you change platforms, you'll have to peel those cool Poncho stickers off the side of the Rebel.

Hmm, if it were me and I had a platform change (LSX) in the mix... I'd put it together with what you have since the machinist said run it, then take your time looking for screaming deals on the new platform motor and all associated pieces. If you get a couple of seasons out of it, awesome....

That's all good if the crank holds together.  If I back out now, I can recover some funds.  Pistons and rods will probably bring $800. $150 back for returning the block, Good set of 6X heads, $300 set of Comp Roller rockers plus a few other odds and ends.  If I blow it up most of those parts will be hurt enough the value is gone.  Seems kinda silly to risk it over $350 worth of crank and balance work.  I know these are small dollars to a lot of people here.  But I have just about reached the limit of what I want to spend on this boat.

At least you have the cruiser. I think if you change platform, there will be all kinds of hidden expense associated with the change. The motor mite not be expensive, but all the little things add up. think.gif

Yeah I have been weighing that as well.  I know it will cost more initially to switch platforms.  After the change is done there is an almost unlimited supply of $500 running LS series motors laying around the wrecking yards.  I could run it like I stole it.  If it blows, $500 and a couple of days and I'm back on the water.

I am working a couple deals on nodular cranks.  One is in Houston.  I might need some help getting it to DFW if I can strike a deal on it.

Matt. stay with the poncho...it's got a uniqueness to it....how many jet driven ponchos do you see on the water?  I like it the way it is...my 2 cents worth.......and damn we all want to see those headers! jump.gif  but hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do.... :smile18:

Talk about expensive.  Those primary tubes are huge.

More new parts.  I just didn't trust that Chinese looking balancer so I bought an Australian one LOL.

Does it turn in the right direction?
