660 chicken s*** stuff!! Try running 1/2 mile straightaway turn on the buoy run the back 1/2 mile for 4 laps. Now that's racing! jump.gif

My fuel tank is not that big and I would need a 6' rudder.  :smile26:

Seems like a wasted effort.
You end up where you started.

Now, going A to B under hard acceleration, that's fun.

Umm... That's what we're doing  a to b with laps. Come to Marble Falls and watch us race 5 wide.

Carnival ride, I have no idea where lucas/chastain come up with all there " BS " changes to a sport that has been successful for longer than lucas has been around . For example- TNT on Friday, only 1/2 of Fri. TNT for the same $100, 1 qual. pass on Fri. and the biggest of them all-treating the open boats as if they were lower than a snakes belly in a wagon wheel rut. Now don't take that wrong , I have nothing against the pro boats , owners or drivers, but without the open boats you have no show between the pro boats classes. All references to the Augusta fiasco race have been deleted from the lucas FB site , but not off the Performance Boat site. I shall continue to race my boat at all races I can afford to get to, have fun , stay safe!

TE and quicker I can see a 1000' deal just for safety reasons. I agree the other classes should stay the same. I personally like running the 1000' in my QE class.  When I reach that mark it is time to shut her down.

1000' is still a fun race but IMO for my boat and set up 660' is awful short I like the top end speed that's why I built mine and I just don't get the rush running 1/8 mile.

I'm actually bad about running taller gears in the fall and making 3/8-1/2 mile runs, not as bad as FL350 but still more run time than usual. lol

I had nitrous on mine one time and I hit the nitrous about 90 mph and it did good for the first 3 times in a row . the 4th time it almost tossed me out of the boat .It took the right front of the boat and shoved it in the water when i hit that little button  .. Water went over me and the engine and almost tossed me out .. . So I would think going into second gear  would be similar to this ..  Needless to say my fogger system was sold the next weekend .. Normally the prop will burn at the hit and take a good bite and after that,  it is  not going to break loose again .. the boat will react to the power change and not the prop and flats do not like that .

For some reason the powers at the top seem to think only pro boats draw crowds and the open boats are just fillers.
Does any one remember the term, "IHBA?"  When was the last time you saw an ET class shown on television?

Even though I enjoy the PRO boats, I still go to see the open boats because I can relate to what they are trying to do.
My favorite of all time were the Pro Gas Flats, but that class doesn't exist any longer.
I hope that SDBA doesn't change any more, but it probably will.
It also seems that every time SDBA becomes more connected with IHBA or Lucas, race tracks get lost and they end up blending their rules to accommodate the National organization.
It also costs more, or at least for the spectators.

Some of that doesn't need to be, NJBA continues with different classes where you can get a record for a class of like boats (not bracket racing).
Just my opinion.
