Are you suggesting the question, "Are you saying that the other vdrives are not set up correct?"

Depends on what you're trying to do. There's no right way/wrong way to set up a vdrive.  It's all on the driver's preference.  A vdrive with less horsepower can run with a jet out of the hole pretty easily.

I'm talking about the question as to why the moaning & groaning from some about a short course. This is what you said: "I guarantee any vdrive that is set up correctly will out perform any squirt boat that is comparable in size, weight, and horsepower.  Regardless of course length."

If one has a superior boat, why the complaining when running against an inferior boat? Just the need to vent one's sensitivities?  :cheesy:

No moanin and groanin here.  :smile17:

The short course does favor squirt boats...until the vdrive takes a set.  Then, bye.....    :smile30:

Loren -- Have you ever seen a flat with a two speed in it ? I don't think it would work shifting during the run because it would upset it too much . You could use the lower gear to race and then just use the higher gear for playing at the lake ,, I know they use powerglides and TH400 in day cruisers .. but thinking like a owens two speed with a clutch set up ..
My first V-Drive had a Velvet drive in it .. Man I sure loved that .. Forward and reverse ..

I wouldn't recommend it and haven't seen it really done successfully. At one time there was a PGF that Scarlotta drove that had a 5 speed to try and keep the shifts from upsetting the boat. For all out performance I'm not a fan of the 2 speed in a flat. JMO

FYI- lucas in their small wisdom has decided next year all classes will be 1,000 ft! If you don't like this call ken dollar and let him know.  There is a rumor of a petition to sign at Marble Falls to keep SDBA 1320'

Are you telling me not to swap back to my 1/4 mile gears just yet? Why no 1/4 mile, safety, insurance, venues or?

Never said you did, you never have. But you can't deny the ones that do, and that was the whole point of the question.

Who is Mr. Glenn?
Glenn Bonds. He was the previous owner of Jetstar's latest boat. He just got a new winger with some nasty power from what I hear. :smile30:

It's a debate tactic used to change the subject when you're getting your ass kicked.
Some people just like unicorns too.

I thought Tim had some pretty good debate going, why would you say he was getting his ass kicked? Or are you just saying he likes unicorns... Being as how he was the one to introduce them to the conversation.

I think that the parallel between the two mythical topics are eerily similar.  No one has really seen a Jetboat that puts vdrives on the trailer and, no one has ever seen a unicorn.  Yet, there are those who are lead astray and believe such things.  LOL
