so to be even , set the 1/4 course up and have it marked off at 1/2 way .. See who get to the 1/2 way spot  first and then who get to the finished line first .. Same HP .. I lay money on the V-Drive .. Then let run for a distance  who runs out of fuel first with the same amount fuel in each one.. The V-Drive will be pulling the jet back to the ramp .. I had one jet and that sucker burn way more fuel than any of my V-Drives and it was slower than all of them ..  This is fun ..

I agree .. Apples to Apples the V-Drive should win .. I just have my boat set up for lake use and 660 or 800 it would be a dog .. Now if I dropped the gears down to 12's or 9's from my 32's . I think it would be interesting then to play that 800 ft game .. But mine is a lake boat on pump gas and I want to be able to cruise some in it ..

Let her sing Billy everyone needs at least a couple sets of gears. lol  jump.gif
I have some 18's and 22's in the tool box .. I think the 18's would sing pretty high with the big engine .. Not going to do that .. I am tired of working on it .. Let just play at the lake and have fun ..

Loren -- Have you ever seen a flat with a two speed in it ? I don't think it would work shifting during the run because it would upset it too much . You could use the lower gear to race and then just use the higher gear for playing at the lake ,, I know they use powerglides and TH400 in day cruisers .. but thinking like a owens two speed with a clutch set up ..
My first V-Drive had a Velvet drive in it .. Man I sure loved that .. Forward and reverse ..

I can tell you from experience Disturbed's Kurtis can leave with those jets.  clap.gif My little hydro does not leave too bad either, however my little tub comes alive when I hit second. 660 I just get to shift.  I might go to Ark. this year for the king of the river deal.  Who knows how I will do.  think.gif

I think mine is afraid to get wet this year or the driver may be scared of that pump gas engine .. Not sure what it is ..But it is saving me money for fuel and from hurting it .. LOL .. It looks and sounds fast on the trailer , so I must be one of those trailer queens .. Maybe I should go and buy a jet .. NOT going to happen , well unless it is the one EO got .. I have to admit I like that boat a lot ..

FYI- lucas in their small wisdom has decided next year all classes will be 1,000 ft! If you don't like this call ken dollar and let him know.  There is a rumor of a petition to sign at Marble Falls to keep SDBA 1320'

I guarantee any vdrive that is set up correctly will out perform any squirt boat that is comparable in size, weight, and horsepower.  Regardless of course length.

I would agree, but then what is the reason the v-drive guys are always biching about a short course. Are you saying their boats are not set up correctly? Or is there some other reason. You may have opened a can of worms my friend, this could get good, lol...

All I'm saying is this; put a 1000 HP engine in a jet that's set up for that engine to run  1000 feet and put a 1000 HP engine in a vdrive that is set up for that engine to run 1000 feet and, the jet will see the back side of the vdrive from the hit.  (same weight too)

I am sure it will be a 1000 ft for 2016 .. All other groups are going that way .. As long as it is the same for all , I don't see a problem .. We will all just gear up for the shorter course then ..

I said it's not my boat's strongest race but ask some of the people that ran El Reno in the PS class how the old white lake flat ran.  think.gif

Don't have to explain anything to me, I said I agreed with what he said.  But, there is always some squealing from the v-drive bunch when there is some side by side action at the various get-togethers. Tim is the one that opened the door with his comment, you'll have to talk to him about it, lol. :cheesy:

I know what you said & I agreed with ya, but you didn't answer the question.

Are you suggesting the question, "Are you saying that the other vdrives are not set up correct?"

Depends on what you're trying to do. There's no right way/wrong way to set up a vdrive.  It's all on the driver's preference.  A vdrive with less horsepower can run with a jet out of the hole pretty easily.
