This will be a bit lengthy.  New Lake Racer class to start at Waco. $150 to enter, includes driver and 2 crew passes, 1 vehicle pass. Helmet-DOT , at the least goggles , no sun glasses unless behind shield or goggles. Life Jacket- Coast guard Type II or III at the least. Long sleeves, pants, closed toe shoes with socks. Dead man kill switch with lanyard. Rope deflector required. 80 mph limit. You have the option of going to River Racer class before 3rd round of qualifying on Sat. with purchase of SDBA membership. Was told you get 1 round of test and tune on Fri.  Can someone post this on SDBA facebook for me. Thanks see you in Waco.

This new class will give all you Lake Racers a way to run the clocks a lot cheaper and find out how fast you really are, might be faster than you been telling your buddies.

The problem is the 80 mph speed limit. Most hot lake boats around here are faster than that. I might be an exception but my pump gas deal came off the trailer runnng high 9s and gaining mph all the way through and past the 1/4. Properly geared my little pump gas 489 would have run mid 9s. So I definitely wouldn't get to run the new class.

Brian , hope you don't need paddle on new boat!
[/quot"e]                Brian. How did you secure the long paddle. That is what I normally carry in the boat ,just lay it behind driver seat

Correct me if I'm wrong (wouldn't be the first time), I assume Billy's concerns are more in the making sure everything for the boat is in order to be allowed to race, like when everything needs to be paid and that the boat passes inspection.
Once in the water, everything will be fine.  Billy's driven the boat enough and watched enough races to basically understand how the lights work to handle that just fine.
Of course the timing on which number to go is something everyone has to work with for their boat and their procedure.

I have full confidence everything will work out, I'd rather see someone concerned ahead of time than to show up unprepared.
Like others have said, SDBA tries to work with new drivers to make thing go smooth.  They hope you come back and they want your money.
That a win, win combination.

Good to know
I agree with Loren (carnivalride) on the 80 mph limit.  Most of the hotter lake boats exceed that, but if they are, then they need the additional safety equipment anyway.
In Billy's case, there's no doubt his will.

This is primarily to give the guys a taste of the procedures, 1/4 mile course opposed to 660',  and the lights which normaly determine winners. Also I suspect some kind of insurance question involved. Many a good outlaw race has gone away because of no insurance. Also several have voiced concern about cost of membership, well here's your chance to run without that cost! If your going to race boats you need to support SDBA and join us at Waco. Mabey you,ll like it so much you,ll join and run the whole circuit.

Billy, used velcro to stick paddle down. But, don't use too much. To begin with put velcro the full length of paddle and could not pull it off at the take out ramp. Ending up using three pieces about an inch long, worked great.

I will tell you I get real tired of pulling on that darn rope.  This might be my last season in an open boat.  think.gif

We're counseling him.  All he has to do is slam the lid, close his eyes, and mash the loud button for 6 seconds.  Then he can open the lid.  Sounds simple right?  LOL.  He's already closing his eyes!!!!!

LOL
