if I was doing it,  I would glass the stringers in strong and then the floor,  I'd want to rest assure, that I didn't have to rely on the floor to hold my power plant in....  just my thought....  :smile17:

Put one layer on today and it was very challenging 62 inches long by 18 in wide, if u notice the sharpie line down the middle that was my attempt to make sure I had proper overlap throughout the process..  :smile20: Only 7 more times  :smile18:

I've been following this thread a while and it looks like your doing a nice job but why didn't you go full length stringers? I think what you did to the floor should really stiffen it up and maybe the overlap between your stringers and your floor well yield the same result but I was just wondering. Most boats I deal with are 2 full length stringers.

I didn't have an interest in full length stringers as this is a family boat, I want a clean floor, no diverter handles or anything for my kids to trip over. Yes my subfloor was an attempt to stiffen up the hull as best as I could to allow for bigger horsepower, hopefully it works  :smile17:

I don't think it did...

Far as the pictures are concerned, keep 'em coming. Its an interesting process to follow along and a part  of working on these boats that doesn't get seen too much.

Fellas the Taylor SS is a 1/4 stringer boat from the factory, I kept it that way just beefed up a subfloor

That was what I assumed by looking at the first pictures. If it didn't have them originally, there is no reason to add them now.  Looking good Ryan!! :smile30:

No need for an apology, believe me I wish I could have a full stringer boat, but wife's requirements were windshield and covered engine, plus I am partial to Taylor's.. So this fit the bill

Fillets or peanut butter is a mixture of resin, fumed silica, and chop strand mat the purpose is to fill the gap between the wood and boat to give the fiberglass something to lay down on,if u skipped this step you would have a hell of a time not have air bubbles in this area.. See pics

did you lay it down, then set the stringers on top, or did you put the stringers down on the matt with resin? The peanut butter is just to fill the void, give it a radius?

Pro, he used PL construction adhesive to hold the stringers into place before he fiberglassed them in. I did the same thing.

There's a guy over on YouTube that helped me out a lot...his name is Frisco Jarret. I took his advice on my rebuild.
