If I were building a boat, a G would be the way I would go. :smile30:

of course you would....  not sure why,

but if I was building a boat,  I believe I would take the C bowl with flange...

now if was really going to build some power,  id have to let Hi-Tech Performance  take over... :smile17:

Nevermind.  I'll play nice just this once.  :smile14:

From a logical standpoint is a G worth it? The amount of glass work involved would suck, ( no pun intended) plus I would imagine I would loose interior space, due to the G suction housing. I am willing to bet with Tom's help and parts from JBP I can get this E kicking some ass.  :smile28:

put a G or C bowl on the E pump housing,  and you will have everything that hull can handle,  there is no way in hell id rebuild the hull to change pump intake and housing...  but im sure Patch would disagree... lol

anyway, back to your build,  I believe with the upgrades,  you have specified,  you are on track for the performance your looking for,  good luck and keep up the good work,  keep the updates coming....

Who thinks I should put a dominator or a berk JG in while I have it gutted?  :smile29:

Depends on what your plans for the boat are. Now would certainly be the time to make the swap, while the boat is gutted. From what I recall the JE/JF pumps are somewhat limited as far as loaders go and how much water & power they can handle, maybe something to do with the size/shape of the intake? Putting a G bowl on it would at least let you try droops, snoots, etc. Far as I can tell, the only benefit to an E/F style pump is having the handhole outside the boat from the factory. Not sure how big a deal that is to you, but if you are considering a C/G style pump you would have the opportunity to set the pump back & the handhole may end up outside the boat anyway. Do you still talk to Tom E.(Impatient1)? He could fill you in on hotrodding an insert pump as he did lots of tinkering with his Taylor & his had the same thing. James(Blazeracer) also experimented with the insert pump in his Glastron, you may pick his brain as well. May be some posts regarding the subject in his Glastron project thread. You'd have to look either one of 'em up on FB though, cause they disappeared from here long time ago.

Yes I talk to Tom all the time still, I know he had his SJ moving in the lower 80's on NOS w his E pump. I also think I can pick up a G relatively cheap and do a setback on it, I don't want to compromise any interior space. I am on the fence because this hull will always have limitations, however I do plan on putting big horsepower to it 7-800 range. I don't know if the extra money and labor is worth it

That's what I remember, 80 mph range... but shut down was kinda hairy due to his hardware set up... but he did a lot of cove racing & such... so it again goes back to what you gonna do with the boat. If its gonna be more of a cruiser with the occasional "put it to the wood" moment, seems the insert pump would be fine. If you were leaning towards making a lake racer/sleeper out of it, then the swap may seem more attractive. Not really sure if you would lose much interior space if you did convert it though. Also while on the subject, not sure how the Jacuzzi WJ compares dimensionally to the Berk/Dominator style pumps, but Greg(Oldbuck40) had a blown BBC in his SJ with the WJ (Berk C/G style pump) & it got spooky on him at high speeds. So like you say... the hull may just have certain limitations regardless of what pump is in it.

That's kind of where I am at I will do some cove racing for fun and it will certainly look like a sleeper, the hull will always have its limitations... Better decide now huh

What do u all think the process should be for the stringers my plan is to tab a 2 in piece first then wrap them 4 times thus giving me 24 oz of mat. As u can see in the pic the stringers go two feet up the floor, I think the strongest option and I could b wrong would be to finish stringers then do floor. Another option would be two layers then add floor and two layers over the floor? Thoughts ?

Peanut butter done on stringers took a tremendous amount of resin, silica and chop but I think the result will be much worth the effort..
