He's a tough customer especially from a rolling start on the short track!
I believe he was in front at the 500-600' mark. I was a little over geared but his TX is quick. If he'd have been spraying I'm afraid I wouldn't have had a chance unless we were running a full 1/4 with the SDBA start.

When you talk about a rolling start, are you talking about flat in the water, but moving or 10-20 mph start?

Here's a video from one of the onboard passes. It's round robin style so I had just run so that's why I'm in front of the holding rope on this one. You can see the new prop tries to manhandle the boat a little at the hit.

Thanks Jim, yes we do have quite a bit of reserve but no desire to go faster in a open boat maybe buy a big Kebelko or PSI and run Q/E with 46 other boats???? or P/E with 2 other boats man they have those two class messed up like a turned over tackle box. everybody's going to be mad before this is over. now back to our regularly scheduled program.  :smile15:

I noticed that too, PE is almost non existent now.  :smile18:

Jim I think a flat needs to run 7.70 or a little better to make a 6.0 in 1000'. Unless you something really light and sorted out like the Blinger.  :smile17:

Loren
I don't think a flat needs to be a 7.70 boat.
The reason I think this is that, at Malvern there are a number of competitive flats running the 6.0 class that I'm pretty sure aren't 7.70 quarter mile boats.
I'll admit that I could be wrong, so maybe someone actually knows.
    :smile21:

Check with David Poffenburger and Vince Nelson on PB.

I'm blanking out on Dan's last name (Rogers maybe?) but he drove the Flat Black boat that ran PE during the season and 6.0 at smokin in the cove. All the nitrous and blown flats I knew of had to turn it up a little to run 6.0/QE vs PE.

Well Knotty Racing is moving Lucky Draw to QE because of the new mota.  Yep there is a ton of them in the class and they all better bring their A game cause we are coming.  :smile30:

How much did you have to turn up to go from PE to QE?

We are not turning it up we are tuning it down.  jump.gif

We could have ran QE easy last year but chose not to because I did not have enough passes under my belt.  I broke out most of my passes in PE and were non-stop de-tuning to get the number.  We have added 500hp with this mota so we will really have to take a bunch out.  It is the same mota the Tutle's have in their Pro-Mod except I have my small 8/71 blower and dizzy instead of a mag.

It seems that others feel that it takes something in the 7.70 range to run the Q/E.  http://www.performanceboats.com/v-drives/264010-p-e-q-e-comparison.html

Since you're making extra horsepower that you don't need, can I borrow some?
I'm trying to keep up with these damn jets.

Loren - Kind of like you , it is just a pump gas engine , but you run in the low 10's and high 9's at 114 mph .. I have not seen anything above 110 mph myself ..
Mine is just a lake boat on pump gas now ..  I am just trying to keep up .. Everyone is getting faster every year .

There I fixed it for, you'll be faster than 110 now. I understand about everyone getting faster and unfortunately I'll just have to live with it. lol  :smile30:
