Ok since no one else will or can I will show ya'll how a jet runs. 1320, 1000, 660 standing start whatever any equivalent v-drive bring it. Now this is a little video of "Livewire" being driven by the Crew Chief not the real driver out at the lake just a little testing about half track pass.

Not bad but I don't think my little ME flat is ready to tackle TE jets yet......

That TE jet has the reins being held pretty tight to keep it in the TE class.  :smile30:

All it is a couple turns of the wrenches. I would like to go Winter Nats with it but we will see.

what did it run that day like 110 on GPS? in under 5 seconds from a dead stop bout 600'. right at half track the boat runs 4.6,4.7'S with a 9.0 tune up to half track at just about any track we have taken it to..

yeah Patch just think if I really wanted to go fast.............like Jim said earlier the hydro would need a capsule  :smile14: But i like the acceleration of a strong Jet Boat.

You run 4.6-4.7 on a 9.0 dial in? What mph are you at the 1/8 and 1/4?

I run a 5.6x on my 10.0 tune usually.

Loren it runs 4.9-5.0's regularly on a 9.0 tune up but has been 4.603 1/2 track and 8.50 full track 1st pass off the trailer when we put it on alcohol trying to run a 9.0  :smile29: dont really want to go much faster in a open hull Jet or V-Drive thank you very much. the MPH were 91-95 and 112-122 respectfully but 115-117 generally

Very respectable numbers.
You appear to have plenty in reserve if you're running 9.0 class.

Thanks Jim, yes we do have quite a bit of reserve but no desire to go faster in a open boat maybe buy a big Kebelko or PSI and run Q/E with 46 other boats???? or P/E with 2 other boats man they have those two class messed up like a turned over tackle box. everybody's going to be mad before this is over. now back to our regularly scheduled program.  :smile15:

I don't know, but isn't the QE essentially the 8.0 or PE boats running 1000 feet?
Most 8.0 boats run pretty close to 6.0 in 1000 feet, maybe a little bit more but not much, and is probably safer due to slightly less speed in the shorter distance.
I would think the jets benefited, the hydros are hurt the most, while the flats are somewhere in the middle.

It's time for a class to be established that is maybe a 8.3 or 8.5 second class.
I always felt that going from an 11.00 to a 10.00 second class took some effort and going from a 10.00 class to a 9.00 class was somewhat of a jump, but going from 9.0 to 8.0 was more of a leap.
It probably isn't going to happen, but not a bad thought.

Thanks for the info, damn according to my slips I was only 80.x mph at the 660' but I did leave it a little over geared going to Chouteau because we figured it was a little too quick for 10.0. Off the trailer we went 9.83 at 108, 7.81 at 104 in the 1000' and 5.58 at 80 in the 660'. The sad thing is I ran it out the back on that pass to see if the new prop was still sticking the nose and ran 114...... definitely not geared for best ET. lol  crazy.gif

I noticed that too, PE is almost non existent now.  :smile18:

Jim I think a flat needs to run 7.70 or a little better to make a 6.0 in 1000'. Unless you something really light and sorted out like the Blinger.  :smile17:

Loren
I don't think a flat needs to be a 7.70 boat.
The reason I think this is that, at Malvern there are a number of competitive flats running the 6.0 class that I'm pretty sure aren't 7.70 quarter mile boats.
I'll admit that I could be wrong, so maybe someone actually knows.
