I have a sport loader that'd work good for ya too. Replacing the thrust bearing is cheap insurance, imo. ya'll come down here, and we'll have that party... :smile30:

Line em up, and hand the tools down the line....

Does the loader help a lot? I was thinking of getting one, but I have to get to oddball one for the JE pump.

Tom at jetboat performance is working on a good top loader for the E pump now, you should give him a call

One thing that is AWESOME about the E pump, it is a split bowl and can be opened without removing the transon plate.

I'm sure it will be well publisized.. Anyway, my Seloc Jet Drive manual came today. It's like 200 pages with tons of pictures. It will be handy everytime.

Devilman, that would be great man!

No problem. Pump is out, pulled the bowl for a look-see at the impeller, everything looks really good as far as no cracks or gouges on anything. So that may be a bonus for the checkbook. I've been running it for 5 years without doing anything to it & no telling how long from the previous owner(s) so at least now I will have something to go by on it maintenance-wise.

Downloading pics, I'll probably make a thread out of it tomorrow morning when I can think a little clearer & able to describe what I did...

Someone will correct me if I am wrong but I don't think that has anything to do with it being a split bowl.  It has to do with it being set back.

Split bowl

Non split bowl

I think some folks just like the hand hole cover being outside the boat. The bowl doesn't split on stock JE pumps(that I have seen anyway) but there is sure to be a split bowl that got installed on a JE pump somewhere. Seems like the heavier boats need the motor moved back that little bit extra. I could be wrong but the diagram looks like someone could build a pump like that.

OK, split bowl was the wrong wording, but the outside hand hole pumps don't need the transom ring removed to take the bowl off. Split bowl and non split bowl are about the nozzle being removable.

You're right. The E & the F pumps are insert pumps & the bowl bolts are accessable from outside the boat, as well as the handhole cover. You can put a B or a G bowl on it though & there would be your split bowl. Thats what I did on my JC...

Thats why I think they are probably not such a pain to swap out impellers.

There we go.  Insert pump.  That is the other term I was looking for.  Insert pumps have the inspection cover and bowl bolts outside the transom.  A pump that is set back far enough can result in the same.  This has nothing to do with the bowl being split or not. The advantage of a split bowl is the ability to use wedges and droops.

Don't forget place diverters that our Ford friends seem to enjoy.
