I have tons of clear on it , but I might try skipping the 800 on the next section . I don't really have any big problems with the clear , just getting out orange peel . I had to do ALOT of sanding to get all the scratches out of the front part of it , so it might be just as easy to start out with a 1000 , or maybe even a 1200 . I will do a little small area with the 1200 and see if that is enough to get the peel off of there .

How many coats of clear did you put on?

That should work. That is usually the minimum I use if the paint edges are small. Just don't get too over confident in your sanding because you will be surprised at how fast it comes back off. Especially starting with 800.

i do 1200 wet, 1500 wet, then 2000 on a da wet soft pad, then buff with yellow foam pad then polish, i never use less than 1000 to sand just because i dont like sanding the scratches out later, 1200 grit will buff out but take longer, i just finish with 2000 to save compound and pads.

I am kinda leaning towards these headers , mounted upside down . That will make them easy to upgrade to twin turbos later this summer . What do y'all think ?

Looks like there could be some plug clearance issues with them upside down. I'd check the return policy and call BBK and ask what they think about running them upside down.

It looks like it would have more room for the plugs if they were mounted upside down  think.gif I am not thinking upside down and backwards , just upside down . I would put the right header on the left side , and the left header on the right side . This way the exhaust flanges would still be toward the back of the motor . What are you seeing that I might be missing that makes you think it would be a clearance issue ?

Never mind I was thinking with the coil packs still on top.  I'm a dumb ass.  crazy.gif

You had me worried there for a minute . I have seen lots of setups with backwards manifolds , and a few with upside down backwards manifolds . But I really can't say I have seen anything with the manifolds just upside down . I still have the truck manifolds that came with my motor , I will take a look at bolting them on upside down and see how it looks . I would think headers would have more room than the cast manifolds in most cases .

Okay , been getting a few of the parts drug out to start putting the boat together . I got the steering wheel and the helm assembly put together , or at least I think I do . Anyone know of a write up on assembling this thing correctly ? I am fairly sure I have it right , but would like to double check .

You probably already know this but you may have to install it upside down to get the steering to move in the right direction.

I can't imagine anything like that ever happening! ROFL!

Anyone know what this kind of steering setup is called ? I looked through the pics on google for "jet boat steering" and have not really come up with anything like this setup .

there you have it

I can't seem to find a diagram on how all the dash parts go together . I have it together how I would guess it goes , but want to verify that it's right . Steering is kinda important sometimes and I dont want to find out the hard way that it's wrong .
