I've only had the pleasure of boating with  Crusader once, and he was most definitely with a chick. Well at least I think she was with him, think.gif Maybe she was with James! think.gif

ok so torque specs on the valve cover?  i was thinking like 5-6 ft lbs?  also im gonna re-assemble my pump tonight, so are there any torque specs for the bowl bolts? or the transom adapter?  berkeley 12jc

really couldn't say,  i tighten til they don't leak,  use a 1/4" drive ratchet and choke up on it so not to put to much torque

SBC are a little tricky with the valve cover seal.  The valve cover torque really depends more on how thick the flange is.  You don't want to tighten so tight that it distorts the valve cover.  If it bends, it won't seal no matter how much you tighten it.  There's just not enough clamping force with just four bolts.

good deal man, way to go....

No idea on any torque specs.. I just snug 'em down, it don't take much on valve covers. I'm sure there is specs for the pump stuff, but I couldn't tell ya off the top of my head.

1/2" bowl bolts 70-75 ft.lbs.
5/16" nozzle housing bolts 20-25 ft.lbs.
5/16" bearing cap bolts 20-25 ft.lbs.
5/16" suction to intake bolts 20-25 ft.lbs.
1 1/4" impeller nut 70-75 ft.lbs

there aint nothing wrong with a sbc.... i have a bbc too, but cant afford to put it in till this winter prolly.    Anywho... i tried to make a gasket for my bowl, but messed up 3 times.. the bolt holes are so large that i cant get the gasket to hold together too thin of gasket material around bolt holes and it rips... so im just gonna order one from berkeley, and wait forever to get it in the mail.  :smile24: :smile25:


ill make it to some of these "gatherings" and will provide beer!  I owe it to everyone to get involved!

Use a ball peen hammer to make the holes.

LOL.  Didn't think about that.  Seriously though,  A ball peen hammer is the tool to make gaskets.
