Dude.. it's not like we're in Minnesota or anything.. Ya'll are only a few hours away by car. It was still in the 70's here.

EDIT, Checked weather.com. Minnesota is mid 30's... Now that's north, way north.

Those few hours are the difference between snow and no snow! I would like to do some boating up there next year though! When we went to Fort Worth to pick up the RV, I told my wife there are lakes everywhere up here. That's got to be nice!

I gotta go with Patch on this one.  (Well Kinda.  According to THB divisions I'd rather be Central)  80* and the central lakes are much nicer than ours.  20' visibility > 2' visibility

There was something on the news about cabins on one of our local lakes a few weeks ago.  There was not many of them though and I don't remember which lake.  For some reason I think it was about 10 cabins and it was Joe Pool.

Devilman, we sure would like to see you up here. During the summer over at Pebble beach, is a HOOT! We have this great cove to make passes in that is blocked on three sides from the wind. Unless the wind is howling right out of the north, which it's not in the summer, it's relatively calm water. Though the cove is next to Pebble beach, my kids and I call it "Jet boat cove".

I hope the guys decide to hang at Pebble beach again next year, that place rocks and is relatively jet ski free.

Wassup with that, figured the lakes up there be more of the clear water variety. Thought it was more of the rock bottom lakes like Travis, Canyon, Medina, etc...

D'man, our lakes in the North are far from clear. In fact, if you can see an outline of your jet drive, that's considered clear 'round these parts. Muddy lakes for sure.

I'll be damned, here I was thinking the farther north you get the lakes all be cleaner water. We went to Stillhouse Hollow which is around Temple I believe? That water was pretty dang clear. And Medina, fuggedaboutit, super clear from what little I saw. Never been on Travis or Canyon though.

So muddy lakes huh, you'd be at home down here some of these places then. I'll have to post a pic of Texana, lol. That lake looks like chocolate milk a lot of the time... :grin:

I thought the same about the lakes up there! I guess it has something to do with where the water comes from or what the lake bottom consists of. I have no idea! :smile21:

Ya, Lewisville, Lavon, Texoma, Lake worth, Joe pool and Ray hubbard are all about the same.

Still, when the air temp is 105, the water is still just as wet as those "Clear" lakes y'all have!

Sounds like your lakes are just like ours.

Lavon = Choclate milk
Hubbard = Snot green.

It's not that they are "Dirty" there is just a lot of suspended particles.    Around Hubbard it is all Texas Black Gumbo Clay.  Lavon is more caliche dust.  The clay and caliche dust are so fine around here it does not take much to get it suspended.  Once you get down there around Temple and Austin your into more white rock and sand.  That stuff is heavy and large enough it settles quickly.  Canyon was a kick A$$ lake about 10 years ago.  That is where we did our check out dives.  It was probably 20' - 25' visibility.  Not sure about it now but I think it is still pretty nice.

If you want a fantastic lake, Ouchita is the place to go. It is the only lake in the nation to support fresh water sponges and jelly fish.  I believe it is the 2nd clearest lake in the nation.  On a good day it can be 50' - 60' visability
