My boat's covered with frost too, but Ray Hubbard is sitting beautiful right now with that one inch ripple everyone loves to run on.

Cliff is going to need some help when he puts his scoop on. Cliff, are you going with a scoop attached to the hatch or a scoop attached to the carb coming through a completed hole in the hatch?

Good morning North!! Is it springtime yet? Lol.

Jimmy, I think I'm going to go with an aero scoop kind of like what Ken Sr. has on his Chebby truck. My plan is to attach it to the hatch. The one issue that I can think of is how I'm going to close the hole in the hatch that is under the scoop so only the spark arrestor is exposed to the air.....this will keep the engine noise (not the exhaust) down in the cockpit. (It's a JET boat so yes, it has a cockpit.....at least in my world it does. Lol).

That's an easy one.  Just cut the hole in the hatch the size of the spark arrestor then mount the scoop around that hole from the top.  You will probably need a stack of some sort to get the spark arrestor up further into the scoop.

A Stealth intake with a 1" spacer will get the spark arrestor up in the air. A Victor intake will get it up even higher!! NO.. If youre going to cut a hole in the chick deck, go tunnel ram... LOL

But really, Stealth with a spacer...

His deck is about 4 inches thick though.  He will need to get that spark arrestor up past all that wood and foam and into the air stream.

Hey, when I get mine apart we can set the Stealth/Spacer/Demon combo on top of your motor and see how it looks..

If you want to spend $20 on a sacrificial gasket set you can bolt it on and see what happens too!!!

That's true.. get one of those K&N velocity stack air cleaners.

Ya...not sure what I'm gonna do yet with the scoop. First thing is I'm going to buy that Holley 850 Marine carb on December 10, 2010 at about 12:01 am in the morning (When my bonus gets deposited) and put it on and see how much room I have under the chick lid. If it fits then I'm not even gonna bother with the scoop. I do have to admit though, a Scoop would look so bad a$$ on that boat.....especially after I put a tinted wind screen on her. Then it will really look like a Hot Boat. Still only run 56mph though...lol.

I've seen that look on other cruisers with chick lids.....it doesn't look too bad. I'll have dripping wet kids jumping on and off the lid though.

That is where the scoop comes in.  Use the velocity stack to get you air intake up above the lever of the deck and into the scoop.

Ya, that's exactly why the Scoop is more of an attractive option for me. Besides, it gives the Crusader that "Aero look" too. Once I put the scoop on, I'd like to get those Military like red traingles that are on the sides of jet intakes that say "Caution Intake" on them and put one on each side of the scoop. Corny huh? lol.

Ahhhhhh, ya...that would make total sense. Donny said he had one I could get from him too.
