I think ours around Dallas are more greenish from algea. Great for fishin in. When it rains though, all the city lakes (I speak for Ray Hubbard) turn brown because all the storm drains run into the reservoirs. Then they're brown for a day or two before they go back to green. Texas Parks calls them stained, not muddy.
EDIT: and what Matt said too, particles being suspended. Not really muddy, except for where we back our jets out of the shallow water.. LOL
