For sure! We need to start kicking around a date that dont interfear with other events for the Regatta.

Pick a date and post it up.  I'll get on top of that "fill the boot" thing for the VFD this year.  Let me know if you need help with anything else.

I just spoke with the Lake Lavon management office and asked them when they were going to open up the rest of the boat ramps. I was told that the park rangers are going to hav a meeting next week (6-10 Feb 2012) to decide however the general feeling in her office is that they will open back up all the ramps on Lake Lavon.

I guess I am missing something? if the ramp is deep enough to launch a boat, then being "open" is an automatic? Why have a meeting?

Corp lake.  All but 2 ramps are in corp parks.  If the gate is closed you can't get to the ramp.

AH! so the real reason for the meeting is to draw straws to see who has to open the Gate!

These slow soaking rains are good for the yard but don't do squat for the lake. I wish it would come down in buckets. I think it's supposed to drizzle all day.

I think you're right James...if you look at the lake level websites, you'll notice that the lake is rising daily.....albeit ever so slowly.

Up is better than down, but at this rate it will take 4 years to top it off.

Looks like the Lake Somerville area got a ton of rain last night. Like what we got a few weeks ago. GREAT for Welchfest!!

1-2 inches of rain expected in the McKinney area......that mean much of the runoff will end up in Lavon......great news.

Glad to read Somerville is getting a much needed rain too!!

Got a screen shot of the lake levels off of Fox 4 this morning. I think they're about higher than they ever were last year.

Lake lavon is about 2 inches higher today than it was exactly one year ago today. Thanks to Saturdays rain, Lavon has actually come up 1/2 foot since yesterday.

Last week I sent an email to the Deputy Operations Project Manager of our area, Eric C. Pedersen, concerning one of the local boat ramps that I use....his response is below.

Good morning Mr. Shaw,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the boat ramp at Ticky Creek.  As of
0945 this morning, we are in the process of repairing a few small issues at
the ramp and associated restroom.  I anticipate having the ramp open for
public use by Saturday, 25 Feb at the latest.

Subject: Lake Lavon - Tickey Creek boat ramp

Good afternoon sir,

Thankfully we've received a much needed rain storm in January to help fill
our lake.....

I'm writing to you to find out when your department will open the Tickey
creek boat ramp. I'm not so interested in the park itself as I am with the
boat ramp. My kids and I are avid fishermen and the Tickey creek ramp is the
one ramp that suits our needs best.

Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

One or two more good storms and Hubbard is topped of. Probably two or three and Lavon is there also.

Any word if they're gonna put the Collin Park marina back where it belongs? When can we go get our yearly passes for Collin and where do we get a Corps pass from?
