Some days it just don't go right.. Went to install the intake.

First issue was the bolts. I thought the bolts were too long, so I went and blasted the original bolts and they are all the same length as the ARP's. Turns out the holes in the aluminum heads have bottoms in them. On the iron heads the bolts hole went clear through to the water jackets so length wasnt' an issue. It is now. That's ok though, 5 minutes with an angle grinder and cut off wheel got all those bolts the correct length.

So can I install my intake now? NOPE!! The gaskets are the wrong ones.. Oops. my bad. I forgot I need SCJ intake gaskets now. Had a set I just threw in trash that came off from when the intake was installed with and ran one time. Forgot I had to get SCJ gaskets when I put the intake on the first time.

No biggie.. now everything's really pushed back a week.. LOL

You should have Duane ship you his and the oil drain kit.  He could send it UPS ground and it will be here in a day.

He was kind enough to send a water pump cover, I wouldn't want to impose. They're already bought, paid for and on the way anyhow.

I feel your pain.  You are hitting the same kind of issues I did on the Pontiac.  just when you think you have it all worked out, Something else doesn't fit right.

If it's not in the boat it will be on the back of the truck in a cradle on the 7th out at Lavon. I might do that anyway so everyone can get a good look at it before it gets buried in the engine compartment.... surrounded by BLING!

It's minor pain though. Seeing it all come together right is worth it. I don't mind waiting a couple days here and there along the way. Plus it gives me chance to work at my job on occasion. LOL

Still have to bolt down the intake once the correct gaskets arrive, but here's a before and after...

Chevy colored, then Ford colored. Now it will run right!!

not that it will make a difference but rex marine has the fram  oil drain kits for 12 bucks ...........

Which one is $12? I found this one for $20. I haven't gotten one yet, so it still makes a difference.

If that's like the one I have now you have to twist the valve at the oil pan by turning the hose to open it and get the oil to flow. If the hose run is more than a foot long the hose alone won't turn it and you have to get down there with your hand to open it up. Great for like a 4X4 with a skid plate but a real PITA on a boat. The one at CP performance Matt put up is $20 also and it truly open at the oil pan and you just uncork the end of the hose, the 42" oil and gasoline resistant hose. Plenty of length on that one.

Before I hit the rack, tried to post this one up at the shop but the computer wasn't cooperating. The ARP accessory bolt kit doesn't come with pulley bolts... BUT, it does come with header bolts I'm not going to use that happen to be the same size. So my pulley is ARP attached now.

Not sure if that is the one HellN is talking about but that one is no bueno for what you want James.  The piece that replaces the drain plug has a valve in it that opens when you screw the hose on.  For normal use you put the cap on to keep it clean and prevent leaks.  When you want to change your oil you unscrew the cap and screw the hose on to open the valve.  In other words you still have to be able to get to the drain easily.  I think you already figured that out though.

Yeah, that's what just took off that was useless, but it didn't have the hose on it, just the valve piece. I think it may have been a leak source also. According to Amazon Fram stopped making them too. Anyway, gave it some thought and got the one from CP Performance.

So the motor's under a curtain for the rest of the week. Well, probably not. LOL.. I can still blast the motor mounts clean and have to put the block drains back in.
