Head studs are in now too. Super Cobra Jet aluminum heads are going on next!!! This is exciting shit right here!!

Actually, I've never had a monster in my life.. OK, just learned that studs make it a PAIN to get the head on when they're all installed. So, pulled all but the outer studs, put the heads on, then put all the middle studs back in. Piece of cake.

The 12pt nuts are SWEEEEET... Everything torqued perfect.

Pic 3, stock pushrod vs Ford Racing pushrod.

Valve train components installed... and here is where is rests for the night. Have a little league game to go to. My boy's pitching tonight!!

Third pic, a few more stud mounted rockers that need to be correctly installed and fully torqued to proper specification..

if ya busted a torque wrench doing what you did already you need to redo it ... cuz the one you busted wasn't right ... gotta use GOOD tools man or your shits gonna break ...  or ya had it torqued too tight ... a good wrench won't break til way after 300 lbs ... just sayin ...
all the best parts in the world and the money you throw at them are only as good as the tools you put it together with .... believe me or not .... it ain't coming out of my pocket.

The torque wrench got broken in the tool box about a year ago. The adjuster on the handle broke and it spins freely now. It's set at 75 foot pounds and can't be adjusted, so it's nothing more than a flexible breaker bar now. It's an old Craftsman I got before my 23 yr old son was even born. It was due to be replaced. NOTHING on this motor was assembled with that torque wrench. BTW, you won't find a single made in China tool in my tool box. Mostly Craftsman and Snap On.

Precision tools, ie. calipers and torque wrenches are only warranteed for one year or believe me I would have exchanged it.

No, mines a click-type torque wrench.

The lifetime warranty is for the beam type torque wrenches.

Do they even make beam torque wrenches any more?

I have quite an array of china tools in my junk drawer, I use the to make special use tools.  For example a cheap socket tack welded to a piece of 1/4 metal rod, make the perfect oil pump primer for a Ford, where that same rod could be beaten flat, ground flat on the end and used on a Chevy.  I guess I got this practice from working on Helicopter engines, the engineers created these engines with such absurd tolerances, so they could sell (for outrageous prices) special tools to us mechanics.

Yeah, I might have a couple that can be welded together and be used for custom applications.

Looks like today will consist of polishing turds... I gotta get this stuff cleaned so the motor can be buttoned up.

I'm thinking maybe take the oil pan down to metal and clear it, or go blue... Ideas?

Go blue bro....you won't really be able to see it anyway in your closed compartment.

Blue it is then.. But I might have to get a new one. Remember the rogue push rod a few months back? There is a dent pushed out on the pan that MAY have been the source of my oil leak. Gonna clean it up real good and leak check the dent.

Might be able to weld it up too. Done that before.
