Break-in oil is Valvoline VR-1 followed by Mobil 1, 20-50w.
I am not saying it is the only combination that works, but Synthetic oil has demonstrated for many years that it provides longer life, ability to withstand higher heat and less friction than conventional oils.
Virtually every high performance car manufacture recommends running synthetic oil in their cars.
