Toys for Tots drive Nov 10th - Sears repair center in Garland, TX

This is a big event for Sears.  It is the first time they have done this.  The distribution center for DFW is at this location.  Almost anything and everything that is found in their retail stores will be available here.  If you have not bought a toy for doantion yet, you can buy one at this event.  They will have everything from clothes to tools to bicycles.  Jim White from KZPS Lonestar 92.5 will be doing a live remote from noon - 2:00.  There will also be BBQ and fried catfish vendors there.  This is a 3 day event.  Thursday - Saturday  The boat show will be Noon - 4:00 on Saturday

There is really only one way in and one way out.  I plan to get there at 11:00 with the intention of being the first one there.  As long as most are there by 12:00 we will be fine.  The plan is pretty simple, pull boats in and park them in the order they arrive.  We will basically circle the parking lot and park the first boat closest to the tent (See diagram below).  We will be backed in against a chain link fence that faces the road.  This will give us the best exposure to the only visible street.  I want to leave enough space between each boat and between boats and the fence for people to walk around.  I drove around the parking lot yesterday in my truck.  I believe there is going to be plenty of space for us to maneuver.

I am not 100% sure where we are going to park tow vehicles but I have 2 places in mind.  It will just depend on how many actually show up.  If anyone needs/wants my number send me a PM and I will get it to you.

Basic direction are:
Miller road to Kings Road
North on Kings Road
Left on Kenmore
Left into the parking lot.

I just talked to the organizer of this event. They would love to have us. The next thing on her todo list was to contact a car or motorcycle club/group.  We can be that group.  They have plenty of parking for us. Basically sears owns the street in front of the repair center and they are going to close it down and have a street party. They will dedicate an area to us in one of the parking lots. I hope we can get a good showing together for this.  Post up if you are willing to drag your boat out and bring a toy(s) for this.

I will post more details as they become available.

Henry, Shannon,Wish you were closer for this one as well.  Billy, Bring that first gen out and join us.

This is a major Toys for Tots event.  There will be media coverage.  The date is set.  I committed to her.  I told her it may be 5 boats it may be 50.  She is leaving on vacation tomorrow and will be back on the 29th.  I hope I can tell her we have at least 15 boats (and one first gen Camaro  )  committed by then.  She was very excited to get my call.  I have no doubt they want us there.  I also have no doubt the local hot boat community will bring the toys!!!!!

yep I'll go. Camaro or boat?

I would prefer either boat, Mako or Daytona,  since I presented this to them as a Boat group.  If it came down to you coming in the car or not coming at all then I will take the Z-28.

Just a thought , but you should also put this over on ls1tech in the texas members section . I am sure there are lots of guys over there that would show up to support the cause .

Let me talk to her about cars before I say yes or no.  I am not 100% sure on the time.  The TfT site has some info but I am not sure how accurate it is.  I will update as soon as I have solid info.

The LS1 guys used to organize their own toy drive to a different location.  Not sure if they do anymore.  I have a feeling I will have my hands full just organizing the boat group.  For now I would rather let the LS1 guys do their own thing.  That could change.
