i've gonna thru all the linkage adjustments,  they are really close,  so when i get the glow plug adapter installed and the wind conditions are favorable,  we will see how it does,  i'm sure there will be some more adjustments to it,  to ensure a good mechanical balanced machine,  but i've done all i can for it till it lifts off and see what it does  :smile16: :smile16:

Here are some pictures of my first Heli me and my flying buddy Steve had been flying planes for about 5 years and got the heli bug. This about 1978 and these were Horizon heli's they had a speedometer cable for a tail drive and no gyros were available yet you hat to fly the tail all the time this is what I learned on.Thought you would get a kick ot of it.

Back then no one around here was flying helis we had to learn the setup by trial and error most of the time we did not know wether it was set up or us as we did  know not knowhow to fly.All the blades were built and balanced by us as were the tail blades.believe it or not I learned to hover and oly broke on set of main blades. We used no training gear. When they came out with mechanical gyros a year later we thought that was the greatest thing.By that time we were flying took us about 2 weeks to get em set up and hovering. The radios were airplane radios you had to make they work they had no channel mixing and you set all end points by linkage. You can see the speedo drive tube on the tail.Notice the belt drive and verticle clutch.

Never cared for 3d I like flying them scale like.Dont care much for that stuff .I do like to auto gyro them though. They never get boring it just a lot easier to fly them now.The big break through was the pizo gyro and heli radios.believe it or not those were 60 size helis we used airplane engines thats why all the cowling it had one big cooling fan in that shroud.

Back then they probably only came in one color . The red on them wasn't really paint , it was berry juice that you traded pelts to the local indian tribe for .

The reason is we wanted to get em going quick so we built them at the same time we would each take a step and do it one might be painting one might be building blades or mechanics etc so they came out the same.

now i guess it'll be a waiting game to get some days with the winds being calm,  knowing my luck,  now that the heli is ready,  the weather is not gonna cooperate

Actually I think it is a little easier to learn with a steady light wind as long as it it isnt too gusty just keep it on the ground till the skids get light an kinda scoot around.they make some little round skid bumpers that look like 3\4 pieces of rubber  to save your skids while your learning. You are pretty patient just keep here on the ground and keep  her light on the skids for a while.Keep that engine real rich for a while too.Make sure you dont have a whole lot of neg colective as when you are learning you tend to chop the the throttle (a habit from flying airplnes)you need about 2 neg  or she wont come down .I think about 6or 7 pos.rotor speed should be about 1800  just my .02

that's why i wanted a nitro heli,  so i could fly more in a slight breeze,  my Blade was just to light,  i had my hovering down pretty good to about eye level,  i was working one my left and right hovering skills,  just never get enough flight time out of the electric helis

If you can hover that small elec you should have no problem with that nitro. To me they are easier as they are more stable (relative)and not as eratic as those little electrics.I have a blade and it is harder to fly than my 90 size heli.

I will get my thumbs loosened up.Actually I think Kona can handle it he was hovering the electrics already and they in my opinion are tougher than the nitros.

that's my understanding,  that Blade you better stay on your toes,  or it's gonna get a mind of it own,  and the game is on,  with the nitro,  and the stability of it from what i've seen,  i should be able to move own with my skills fairly quickly

Kona can handle it, if not, he will blame it on faulty equipment! :smile16: :smile28:

you know it!,  f.... dead batteries,  f...... windy conditions, f..... this and that,  but never my fault, :smile27:
