What cam are you going to run with that AA?

Was the 66 on the sause?

I also run an E pump in my Taylor SJ. Im turning an A/B 6000 @ 73 MPH. But, It blows the pump every time out of the hole I am starting to do some pump tuning now that the power is there, Droop, loader, inserts for place diverter. I hope I can gain another 5 or 6 MPH in the pump. Although I may be asking too much from the punp. E pumps are not as effecient as a G or C because of intake size and angle.

There is a set of insert over on PB in the SPAM section.

http://www.performanceboats.com/parts-spam/80944-jet-pump-parts.html

I saw them and figured they were for a race nozel . I went ahead and asked about them sense you mentioned it, as I already bought the wedges he had. told him I would probably take them to if they fit my FTN.

And by Fine Tuned Nozzel he means the folgers can with the gate on it. jump.gif jump.gif :smile30:

I see so your going to tune the pump for the squeeze so you can get down when you want to but still have weekend fun drivabilty. how much more HP do you think your new combo is going to yeild over stock.

yes edelbrock carbs are  no bueno.

The stock motor was rated at 330. The motor build I am replicating was built for a jet boat and tested on an engine dyno at 535hp. I'm using same heads, same cam, same pistons, same push rods. Soooo, 205 more ponies, plus a 150 nitrous shot on top of that. That SHOULD be 685 at the flexplate on spray. I'll bet at the end of the season when I had the carb and intake I was a few over stock , maybe at 350, with a 150 shot also for 500 total. That's what I hit 66 with. 70 reliable is the goal.

Waaaaaa-Hoooooooo!!

Just scored a Berkeley split bowl off of Ebay for $100 plus shipping. The guy spelled Berkeley wrong so hardly no one looked at it. Looks like I'll be running a droop snoot if it ever gets back together.

Is that a converted "C" bowl?  the vanes look like they extend past the nozzle housing flange.

I have no idea, the ad just said Berkley split bowl. For all I know it goes to one of those 6J series pumps. Whatever it went to I can't lose for $100..

It for sure doesn't look like my G bowl, it may be a B or an A, which are older model bowls. Still shouldn't matter though.

Only thing would be if its had somebody doin some machine work on it like I mentioned in the other thread...

Find out for sure when it comes time to bolt a droop on it...

the jcb and a bowls had vanes that did not extend past the flange...the g bowl vanes wrere about even with the flange...

Looks like a good choice in a NOS cam for your build. I like running a little more RPM. I went with a 646 - 653 solid roller and no NOS. I was shooting for around 6000 RPM in my build and got as close as you can get without going over. However with the addition of two Proform 750 race carbs set for E 85. I'm told to expect a 5% to 6% increase in HP. ( over AV gas ) So I will probably land around 6200 when all is said and done. All this is on a 496 , 12.2 to 1 with rectangle port Iron heads.

I stand corrected on the cam. I bumped my choice to something a little more aggresive. The one in the dyno's motor was a Comp Cams XE274H-10.

274/286 - 230/236 @.050 - .560 lift and 110 LSA

The Lunati

284/292 - 241/249 @.050 - .582/.600 lift and 110 LSA

The Lunati should be worth a few more ponies over the Com Cams.

Back to pumps....

Got my rebuild kit and new impeller on the way from Tom. Should be here early next week. By the time it arrives I should be done with the interior. So maybe I'll be first.

The pump is the only thing left on my boat that is still together. But I do have an AA impeller and split bowl in the other room..

A couple of questions can be answered now.. Was my $100 split bowl off of Ebay machined to where a droop won't fit? Can you put an E diverter on a droop snoot?

Well, everything seems to fit. Combined with the AA impeller I scored for $125 you little Chevy punks better watch out! This Ford's a coming!!

I just have to figure out what color to do it in... Army green, polished, or white??

Edited for clarity so the Navy guy can figure it out... LOL

Dudes.... Just pulled my bowl.

I bent a prop 8 years ago and the boat wouldn't run for squat because the tiniest bit of water would be pushed forward. I've always wondered why I was running 6mph slower than when I bought the boat (on motor only).

I know when the impeller got bent too. The night I towed that wakeboat on Ray Hubbard, July 4th of last summer. My boat wouldn't move after I pulled him to the Rockwall ramp along 66. Reached up in the grate and there were plastic bags and crap. Opened the cleanout hole there was was about ten pounds of seaweed a fist sized rock inside the suction area!!! Since then the boat seemed slower. GPS even said it was slower. Now I know why.

The wear ring looks GREAT!!

You guys are knuckleheads.. I HAD a boat with a prop back in the day.. It had a bent prop and couldn't hit 35. So for months I've been wondering why I lost 6mph with my jet.... because the IMPELLER is bent and slowing it down, just like my prop from 8 years ago... The one leading tip on my impeller is going to throw the smallest amount of water forward.. a real speed killer.

I saw it happen with a prop, now I've seen it happen with an impeller.

Got it now???

Guess I could have clarified better.

Ya man, now it's clear.

You owe us beer now and a lot of it too!! That's your "beer fine".

There's a kegerator here....

Also, my new AA impeller is knife edged on the leading edges. The impeller in the pump now is not. The new one should cut the water much better.

Before and after.....

Before, black suction piece, green split bowl, polished droop snoot, white Place diverter....

After, white everything.
