I am not really sure how well it will hold up on the motor , but I had the paint already so it didn't cost anything . I think it will be fine on the block because it dont really get that hot in a boat . If you want the candy look you should get some of the stuff that I mixed into the blue that is on the boat itself , it gives a really cool effect . Kinda hard to tell you what the effect looks like , it's not really like any thing I could compare it to , but it really makes the color pop .

itll hold up greaty on the motor, its how chip foose and boyd coddington do it., this was mine, never had it peel. to do the candy look with the blue you already have you can add silver to the blue about 4:1 with silver being the 1 part, then mix the blue base half and half with clear and itll retint back to dark but with the candy effect, its basically the affordable way to make candy topcoat.paint doesnt stick to oil, that what would make it peel.

I got the motor flipped and put the F=body pan on it last night . This afternoon I spent a little time putting everything else on the motor and getting everything torqued down . Now the motor is ready to go into the boat . I need to set the motor in and decide how much of the front motor plates I got from Patch need to be cut down to be able to work in the boat , then I will be ready to put the motor in completely .

Uh oh if this doesn't get done something tells me SPD will be torn between playing with the TX and finishing the Kona.  Something also tells me the TX may win a lot of those battles.

No,  that is not going to happen.  The Kona is too close to being finished to start working on another boat just because it happens to be a winger. I will not start on the TX until the Kona is on the water  :smile30:

I guess we will see what happens when that TX19 shows up.
:smile30:
I know i have found another project I would love to get my hands on only 10 mins away for a good price a Sidewinder with a berkley Jet but I know the wife will kill me if that happens before this one is on the water.

I actually expect the TX to be a long slow project.  I am going to take my time and do it right,  and it will cost alot more than the Kona project. I want to be playing with the Kona while I build the winger. That should keep me from getting in a hurry and rushing to finish the TX  :smile30:

I am going to go borrow a engine hoist from Jimbo either later today or tomorrow to get the motor into the boat  jump.gif I will have to set the motor in and decide how the plates will be cut and then take it out to cut the plates  think.gif then I will be ready to set the motor back in and leave it there  :smile17:

Not so much  :smile19: I need a PTO to put all this together and I don't have one . The bellhousing I was originally going to use was a three point , but I went today and picked up  a really nice 4 point bellhousing for it instead . Once I get the PTO I will be ready to drop the motor in and get it all set .

Well,  even with the TX crying out for my attention I managed to spend some time with the Kona today.  I got the entire inside of the boat final buffed this afternoon. And test fit the gauges.  The guy I got the boat from had cut the dash for angle bezels.,  and they were a different angle than the bezels that I was going to use.  I decided to grind it a little so I could mount the gauges without the bezels.  I got that done and got all the gauges in the dash,  but they are not going to stay there. I just can't make myself put a miss-matched set of used gauges in the boat after working so hard to make it look good.  The gauges I got from Henry just don't look like they belong there, so I will pass them along to someone else and buy the Kona a decent set of gauges that match.  Hopefully this weekend I will get the motor in and start getting the fiberglass laid to build the seat shells.

Ok,  I am working on cleaning up ans polishing the old school flip top.fuel fills for the boat,  and they are pretty crusty.  Is there a good way to do this, because rubbing with Mother's Polish don't seem to be getting me very far.  I really wanted to have correct flip top fills,  but these don't seem to want to Polish up at all  :smile19:

Those actually are pretty close to the ones I am trying to clean up.  I tried to find new one's but couldn't. If these ones don't clean up I will order a pair of those.  Neverdull does good on alot of stuff,  but I doubt it would work on these, they really are crusty.  There are pits in the aluminum,  not real bad but the pits are there.
