I'm not trying to make this a really fast boat , maybe one of the faster slow boats on the water . I am not saying you will not be able to catch me in the v-drive , but I doubt you will catch me in the Hawiian .

Man I don't own no V-drive, and I will make sure my Hawaiian is up to the task. But you will have to boat somewhere else other than San Jac. If I'm driving for an hour, I want to go somewhere a little nicer. :smile16:

I got a few of the spare parts off of the motor , but still have some more to go . I will get some pics up of the progress so far . This motor is really clean , even the oil looks like new . I pulled the intake and under the intake was even clean . I read that there should be numbers cast into the head gaskets indicating the engine size from the factory , but I have no numbers on my head gaskets . I wonder if this motor was rebuilt ?

gonna need a little more than a LS mota....

For what ? To outrun the Hawiian ? I doubt it , but I am going to have a little more than an LS motor anyway  :smile30:
Have you been in my Hawaiian? How would you know what it runs? Or are you just guessing on it's speed from the land point of view. I guess if I saw your boat go buy me, I would understand where you are coming from, but since I have never seen you in a boat, my Hawaiian looks pretty freakin fast from that bench at Loves. think.gif It's all good, get that LS running and by that time I will have something ready for ya! :smile30: :smile16:

I'll go ahead and tape that race as I walk on both of ya'll with my little 325 inch small block

crazy.gif crazy.gif I have the same 325 cubes , and a lighter boat . What makes you think yours will be faster than mine ?

1. A 76mm LM7 EFI throttle body will flow 920 cfm without boost, almost double that with 8psi of boost.

2. My boat's a Glastron Carlson, the fastest cruiser hull ever built.

They say the only way to tell the size on the iron block motors is the pistons. The 5.3 pistons will be dished, the 4.8's are flat tops. An aluminum block 5.3 will have flat tops also. The pistons, the rod length and the crank stroke are the only differences in a 4.8 and 5.3 and there is no way to tell from the outside. You have to pop the heads off the be sure, or put a scope down the spark plug hole and look for the dish.

I thought my motor had also been rebuilt when I first started digging into it, but alas, it's all original. I think the LS motors just last very well. Everything has GM stamps on it and the bearings are definitely worn. No size indicators on the heads gaskets that I saw, but I wasn't really looking either. Mine does have dished pistons.

There was a vid out there of a guy in a 18ft Carlson running 125 on radar with a small block, OT headers and NOS thru an Alpha outdrive. Unfortunately the video has been banned in our country. The run was in Canada. I know a few here have seen the vid and it's why I bought the hull I did. Never seen any other cruisers do that!!

But it's winter time, meaning time for the smack talk to begin again. LOL

That's a sweet vid, and why my buddy bought his Glastron hull. Then he did his homework and found out the whole bottom of that boat had been re-worked. So it's not really a stock Glastron by any stretch of the imagination. Still a cool boat though! :smile30:

You can roll a piston up to TDC and look in the spark plug hole to see the top of the piston . Mine are dished . There are pics over on LS1Tech that show the markings on the factory head gaskets , but my gaskets have no markings that I can find . They markings should be on the little tab that sticks out at the bottom of the head , under the exhaust manifold .
