I finally made it over to pick up the rear motor mount for the motor , and got a BBC driveshaft while I was there . Not sure if I can use the driveshaft as is or if I will need to change the part that bolts to the PTO , but it should be the right length and the pump end is correct for a Berkley pump . Anyone know what the LS PTO bolt pattern is for the driveshaft ? Blazer ? What did they tell you on yours ?

Hopefully I will take a few parts to sandblast in the next few days . I want to have them ready to paint and just spray them when I spray the boat . Still have not decided on colors for the boat , guess I will find out what color the boat is going to be when the paint comes out of the gun  think.gif

The LS crank is metric. No other PTO adapter will work except one that is made for it. Glenwood Marine had mine for just under $100 and it came with the required metric bolts. Makes life easy to use shit that works. Your spicer driveshaft sould bolt right to it.

Glenwood Marine, (323) 757-3141
Part #793-T and you must specify for automatic transmission.

I think he is referring to the bolt pattern for the drive line not the bolt pattern for the crank. According to Glenwood it will accept either the standard 1310 or 1350 drive line depending on which PTO you ordered.

Well, that's a good question because I just pulled my adapter off and it does NOT fit the driveline. Sooo, I'll have to call them back after the new year when they are back to work. I didn't know there were two different sizes. Both the drivelines I have here are the same size, same length also.

I'm kinda surprised Glenwood didn't mention it when you ordered.  Maybe they are only stocking one size.

Here is some drive line edjumacation for ya:

In fact, they are both too short for I will need. They are 6 1/2" long and I need. Both the Ford and Chevy motors are 1 3/8" from the block face to the PTO face, and the Chevy bellhousing is 1 1/2" longer than the Ford bell housing. Continuing this on my thread.

That just explained it all.

I HAVE TWO ROCKWELL DRIVELINES!!! Which are both only 6" long compared to the spicer drivelines that are 7 1/2" long, and have a completely different bolt patterm. I need a spicer driveline with a 1310 flange, the most common driveline used.  The Rockwell drivelines aren't even made any longer.

FOR SALE: One hard to find Rockwell driveline for a jet boat, $1,000..... LOL

According to Tom's page the 1350 is about an inch longer than the 1310.  Don't forget you have a little play with how much the slip yolk goes in the pump.

EDIT:  Never mind.  You figured it out.  I'll leave this post though for future reference.

Saw a BBC drive line FS over at PB this morning.  I can't find it now.

Spent a little more time filling pin holes with a razor blade and faring compound today . I have about 90% of the boat ready for the next coat of primer and guide coat . Hopefully it will be ready for the next step this weekend .

Going to go up to the shop in a little bit and finish getting the boat ready for the next coat of primer and guide coat . Hopefully it will be ready for final blocking and paint by next week some time . I got most of what I need for the motor already , just waiting for the UPS guy to bring me a PTO and oil pan .

I also need to go over to a friends place to use his blast cabinet to get some parts ready for paint . What does everyone do for sandblasting thier bowl ? Do you have to tape up all of the openings to keep the sand out , or just blow it out when you are finished ?

How many times we gotta tell ya????????

I'd screw bolts in to the threads to protect them.  I'd also tape over the gasket surfaces.

I just wet sanded my bowl. The only part that gets painted is the outside anyway. I didn't want to risk getting sand in the innards.

Oh, agree with Matt....

Not really much to take pics of yet . Still playing with filler on all the little bad spots , I posted a few pics of that already . I am going to start getting the motor ready to drop in pretty soon , there will be lots of pics of that .

I just put the plugs in the bowl, set the droop on top of the bowl, then primed and painted as it sits it just like the pic shows.

I was told by someone with more experience than me that the paint will bond alot better to the bowl if it is sand blasted . I was just wondering if I need to worry about getting sand into the bowl while blasting . Guess I will just tape up the ends to be safe .
