i even loaned a paddle bit used for drilling out wood with a hammer to the Swindolls at Plowmans one year so the could remove a broken intake tube from the pump,  back in action in about 30 minutes  :smile16:

Good Morning everyone, I wanna start the day by thanking everyone for their continued support... clap.gif

I drilled for 6 hrs last night, and im 1/2 way down the hole... I cant get any progress buy drilling straight into the bolt...i have to chew at it, at an angle. im sure ive gotten all of the broken bits out of it, im further then ive ever been... however going at an angle has caused me to "waller-out" the original hole a bit... but i think once ive eaten all the way through the bolt, worst case i can jbweld a stud in there and it work... but id like to still try the hellicoil...    and btw it is a top bolt.

by god i think this is gonna work... i just need a fresh bit or 2 to finish off the job... ive worn the bits down so much they look like smooth shafts.

after giving this some thought..and re-reading what everyone has said... i think im gonna buy a stud kit, and convert all of my bolts to studs anyway.  and then just jb weld the broken one in place... sounds like the "best way" in my opinion.  but we will cross that bridge when i get the damn devil bolt out.

I have a change of topic for a moment... boat names, any unwritten rules in the jetboat world about naming my boat?  i know its bad luck to have a boat with no name, and its bad luck to change the name of a boat... i was thinking Knoti-Nauti... or somthing clever like that. Input...go!

There are 2 or 3 boats here playing off the word "knot"... and I have heard about the bad luck of changing a boats name without following proper procedure, but haven't heard having no name at all was bad luck.

haha, well the funny thing is... this broken bolt has been a small issue compared to all the other shit ive had to do,,, intake, carb,starter,alternator, dizzy, coil, plugs, wires, and not to mention the 1/2 assembled pump laying on my garage floor... plus all the guages and stereo stuff.  i can handle a derogatory SBC name...
