Update on the Whacker! New power pack, positive battery cable, battery, inline fuse holder, carb kits, fuel tank and line, and a fuel pump. Now she runs on her own, but I need to change water pump and thermostats. These whacker can get out of hand quick! think.gif

Once you change out the impeller and thermostat, you should be fine.

I hope so, I feeling just short of major overhaul! Not really, it's been fun to work on and I can't wait to hit the water with it! jump.gif

Forgot to tell you one more thing to do....go ahead and change the lower unit oil too. I always do this when I buy an OB motor....just to make sure the propeller shaft seals are still good. If the oil you drain is milky, you'll need to replace the propeller shaft seals. Replacing them is much cheaper than another lower unit.

Well worked till 12:45 last nite on it, and found out water pump is brand new! Even had to extract a broken bolt, chasing something that wasn't even a problem. But now I know it is good. Just need thermostats, and Whacker Flat is ready! :smile16:

I already have the new oil. It was not milky at all for what it is worth. :smile16:

What it's worth is a good peice of mind.

Sounds like you got yourself a pretty nice OB mota!!! Have fun with that beast.....as you know, your new boat will open up a whole new realm of boating for ya!

When I first got my OB in 2007, it had all kinds of corroded bolts in it. I was able to replace all the bolts that I had issues with and was also able to buy factory specific hardware from www.iBoats.com  . Even though your water pump (impeller) appears to be good....I'm glad you replaced it as it may go bad on you in short order. I replace the impeller in my 40hp whacker every other summer whether it needs it or not.....

Good luck with all the dead fish!!! I wish we had good luck fishing...we usually catch little fish hence the name on our whacker "'lil fish". Haha.
