I got ya. That Taylor would make a good one fo sho, not knowing how much he wants to spend. Has he said what he wants to do with it? Cruise around sandbar hopper, or lake rod shittin & gittin...

I'll look around on Craigslist, got plenty of time today. :cheesy: At one time there was a REAL nice Sleekcraft SST down in the Corpus area for sale. Haven't looked for boats lately though...

He said he wants a sharp lookin boat but, he thinks a jet maybe too fast for his first boat.  Of coarse, I laughed....   I think he just wants to look cool.  lol.  A nice, low maintenance jet would be his best route.  IMO.....  Maybe my THB brethren can help convince him a stock big block in a lake jet isn't that fast.  And, if he finds one that already had some power built, it has an accelerator.

Oh, as far as price goes, I was showing him boats in the 8K range and he didn't flinch.

I see what you did there, a bit of sarcasm mixed into that post, quite clever you are.... :cheesy:

Unless he gets into a Rogers or a gullwing or tunnel of some sort, I'd be willing to bet that a stock or mild big block is gonna put it into the 50-60 mph range at best. (shut it, lol) And yeah even if he found one with some blasting powder in it, doesn't mean he's gotta have it to the wood all the time. :cheesy:

Cool, he should plenty to pick from then.

Disturbed is right, prices are down, but if you have NEVER had a boat before, I strongly suggest you research your decision.  There are NO free boats, most of us drink Bud, Coors and Miller because all our money is in our boats.  When I show up at the lake with Bush, I probably am sporting a new part on my ride.

I'm even worse ... Milwaukee's Best... means I've got a full gas tank........ :smile30:

Jetboat( Steve) still has his boat for sale . It a Taylor SJ-- I believe , engine built by Tom and runs right about 68-70 mph. 460 Ford , ceramic headers and very clean boat .. He is not going to run it any more , he thinking about moving ..

I think it still in the for sale section .. Maybe I can find the link ..

Steve's Taylor is very nice. I looked around here & PB, couldn't find any listing for it. I have pics of it on my work computer I can post on Monday.

Welcome to THB. Go ahead and get a gullwing and a big Nitrous or blown mill. Jump in both feet first, cause in a couple of months you'll be looking to go faster just like everyone else. Its a diease and there is no cure. First time you feel the pull from a built hot boat its like a drug, ya gotta get more. Close to the reason your still a pilot, the adrenaline rush.  clap.gif

That is a cool old project.  I like it.  The wife wants it.  There is no way I'm putting another pot on the stove.  Someone else needs to save it.

Welcome to the board JD.

Not me, I just bought my wife a 23' Glastron, now if I sell enough parts, I have my eye on George's T deck Hondo.
