Plus camping all around the lake.
There is also an Air Force Marina on the lake.

There is also Lake Amistad Resort with very reasonable rates.  I like the two you sent also.  There is plenty of camping sights but without hookups.  For just a weekend trip this looks great!

OK it is now Official the RUN FOR THE BORDER RALLYwill be Sept. 2nd-4th. This will be a long weekend so hopefully many can attend.  This lake is beautiful and the water is awesome. I can hear the roar of the exhaust off the canyon walls now.  I have checked with the Texas Rangers, Game Warden, Border Patroll they all said the lake is perfectally safe for our event.  There are many camp sights and inexpensive places to stay. Karol and I will be going down there at the first of June to check everything out and make final arrangements.  We will come back with a report.  I hope many of you mark this on your calendar, the more the merrier.

We are tapped out on vacation time, but being as how thats a holiday weekend, we may be able to make a go of it. Gonna mark it down at least, see how things shake out. Lodging will probably be our main concern, too far to drive 2 vehicles. Be looking forward to your findings. :smile17:

I am going to try and make that. It all depends on the wedding plans and what I have to do with that. Maybe I can just take my BIL. He isnt supposed to see his GF before the wedding anyway. I am tenative, but hopeful, at least one day.

I checked and resorts are booking fast since it is a holiday weekend.  If you are booking a room and not camping you might want to get busy.  Pus there are plenty of places in Del Rio. The place I am staying in June is booked for "RUN FOR THE BORDER"  I am looking for a place where everyone can stay.

Our trip was awesome that is some of the most beautiful scenery you can ever see.  That lake is great if a couple of boats want to hang out for a weekend but not really good for an event.  The main body of Amisted is way too rough for our kind of boats, you have to go to one of the rivers branching off of it.  There is no sand bar a group of boats can meet at.  Devils River is great for hot boats if you have a small group.  There really is not a good place for a group to meet and camp unless everyone wanted to bring an RV and tent camp.  Therefore I do not think this would be a good place to hold a THB event.  Now if a small group wants to go sometime I am in!  I want to encourage the THB members to attend Sand Bar Bash in Sept.  That is a great place and fun event.
