Got it home last night....lot bigger than I pictured in my mind...has a little damage, nothing bad, though. OS .40 that is real gummed up, and the carb is stuck, but I can fix it!

Ailerons, rudder, elevator all work perfect, and all the linkage is there waiting on servos. The aileron servo is there. jump.gif
A little packing tape, and were in business... clap.gif

*Here is what I've found so far on the engine:
Superb engine, one of the best I've ever had (the other best one being an OS .25 SF), very easy to operate, pretty powerful for it's size and now quite sought after as being more bullet proof and with better longevity than it's replacement the FX series.

You picked up a good one.*

*The reason that you don't hear much about them is because they are such reliable engines that throttle great and that produce good power, even to this day. Folks are busy flying them and not complaining about them on the internet. *

*
well just wanted to give you some information about the SF series engines!!! these are the dual ball bearing, long stroke engines, often adjudged better than even the FX series of OS!!!! they had probably the best metallurgy on these engines!!! and they are long lasting, and had some variants like the ringed and the non-ringed ones too!!! i am using about 5 of these engines even today, in india - all SF's and they are doing good work!!!*

Yea you get that engine all cleaned up it will run forever!  Duane you see the little white clips in the last pic.? You should take some of the fuel line and cut it about 1/8 in long and use it as a safety O ring to slide up on those snap pins! Sometimes on an older plane people take these parts off and on and the snap wears out thus causing failure!  The plastic ones are ok but i prefer the metal ones!!!!

Dont you have a Hobby shop close by? Get your arse down there and pick up some Monokote and a small iron and fix the damage to the wing! It is too easy to fix! Iron on a patch and shrink it tight with heat from the iron or use a heat gun! jump.gif

I think once you get rollling on this plane your gonna like it! jump.gif

yeah you'll need a little more stuff too a JR reciever, 2 servos and TX crystal to match recvr I apparently left it in another plane I sold years ago  :smile18:  but I got the TX charging last night and 2 batt packs for the rcvr and I have 2 507 JR servos that work and a switch.
If ya wanna try Monokoting the plane I can send ya a barely used iron as well .... TX takes any xtal from 72.010-72.510 and last AMA freq check was 07 so not that old ... still has plastic over the JRPropo badge under the batt meter. Um  JR MAX 6 FM Digital Proportional  elevator/aileron adjustable dual rates, trainer switch and gear switch norm/rev switches for all 6 channels.Gear switch is great for bomb drops.

I'm thinking about getting another plane. I want something like a Cub with big tires and lots of power. I think some short field action would be a blast!

That would work. I also been looking at a Red Rascal Arf! They are pretty cool.
You ever remember seeing a plane called Holy Smoke? It was nothing but a foam wing in the shape of a triangle with nothing but a ruddder and twin elevators with a mixer! you talk about nuts trying to fly one! It would take off maybe in 60 yards or so and damn it was fast!

I have never tried a flying wing before! There was a guy flying one in the parking lot of the hobby shop. It was foam and electric powered. Quite impressive but no landing gear!
