Love that new "Engine room" you have in your shop...very cool.

How did the test fit go? Any progress? I know the paint job and seats look sweet!

What about the stripes ? Did you have any luck figuring out the striping ? Any

I've done two things to the boat so far this week. Jack and squat... LOL

Been having to work and make some cheddar. Home for lunch now but gonna head back up to the shop in a few to wash the boat, hit it with some 1,000 grit and push it inside. I found my striping brush, it' the one with the green threads. Still need to wet sand the scoop also.

I'll tell you what Cliff. After building your motor in the dead heat with a portable AC I had to convert one of the big storage rooms to a motor room with all my tools. Moved a couple of AC vents over and put in a stereo.. Hell yeah!! Edward wants to bring his shop TV and X-Box into that room now also.

That's cool bro.....you build motors on one side and Edward plays videos on the other. Sounds good to me!

The green is not really very user friendly , especially for a begginer like me . I have trimmed a few of the green ones and got them to make a decent line . Assuming you are right handed here is what you want to do to trim the brush a little .

Hold the brush with your right index finger and thumb , with the "knot" on your index finger . Smooth the brush with some olive oil . Hold brush side ways so you are looking at the side of the brush . On the top of the brush separate out about 1/4 of the bristles and cut them right below the green threads . That will kinda move the belly of the brush out to the tip where you need it to be for pinstriping . I will try to take a few pics of some of my brushes to show you what I am talking about .

Here is a pic of three brushes . The first one is a green thread that is trimmed alot more than you want to trim yours . The second is a green thread that is trimmed about how much you want to trim yours . The third is a regular blue thread striping brush . I don't have an uncut green to show in comparison . But the main thing you are trying to do is get the threads that make the taper out closer to the end . That way when you try to do curves they are alot less likely to break out of the stripe and screw up your line . The one that is cut alot will do little circles and scrolls and all kinds of cool things , but it doesn't hold enough paint for long lines like what you are doing .

Well, I still SUCK at pin striping. Here's what I did so far. It's about half done.

I started my wet sanding the entire boat with 1000 grit. It's almost shiny the way it sits!! Then the stripes. The line is just WAAAAYY too long to make it straight freehand, so I laid a line of tape on blue side and ran the brush down it. It's not near perfect but will work for me. Looks great and matches the seats.

James Im a day late telling you this but just so you know next time or if there is a next time.  I can get all the pin striping tape you want at work. Im not an expert but Ive done my fair share if it.  If you will take and tape off on the blue side and white side it will turn out like you are looking for.  But for a first time Job pretty good.  I dig the seats they turned out pretty nice and sit down in the boat nice.    Also to let you know I found two sets of bbf twisties with water lines if your interested..

Got the pin stripe finished, the ENFORCER stenciled on (which looks like crap IMO) and the first coat of clear on it. Wet sand again tomorrow and hit it with another clear coat. Wife, daughter, son in law all say this one looks way better than the Glastron... LOL

It's Wednesday night, headed for Lavon now.

Thanks guys. Hopefully today I will wet sand, shoot again, wet sand again then polish and wax and can call the top side paint job done.

EDIT: Just re-read that. May be a little ambitious there. Wet sand and reshoot another coat of clear is probably more realistic.

Before and after... or at least now. The only thing that will change is more shine. Hard to believe it's the same boat!

You're right, it is hard to believe its the same boat.

What's your plan of attack on painting the hull?
