So I read the other day there is a move to end Daylight Savings Time in Texas... may possibly go into effect this year, that when fall comes set the clocks back & leave them on Central Standard Time for good. If it passes that is...

There were also folks commenting on it to leave Daylight Savings Time in place, but that is not an option supposedly. States can stay on Standard Time year round or participate in Daylight Savings, but not vice-versa.... can't adopt DST full time... for lack of better description. I'll see if I can find what I read the other day...

Here's the bill: House Bill 150

from the bill: (d)AAThe state, acting under the exemption provisions of the
Uniform Time Act of 1966 (15 U.S.C. Section 260a(a)), is exempt from
the provisions of that law that establish daylight saving time. The
exemption provided by this subsection applies to both the portion
of the state using central standard time as the official standard
time and to the portion of the state using mountain standard time as
the official standard time.

huh, it appears that HB 150 originally started out as trying to adopt DST year round, but since that is not an option, they flipped it to keeping CST year round instead.

Rep Dan Flynn gave up on changing HB 150 to DST year round. He is now going to have us fall back and stay there.

I have found no "real" reason for this so far, it seems as if the main factor is people are just tired of changing their clocks back & forth. There may actually be something else, I just haven't seen it.

SOOOO many whiners out there about DST...I love the extra daylight in the evenings during DST.

I say the same thing...

A lot of the comments are a variation of "you are not gaining any "extra" daylight, you just have it in the morning instead of the afternoon" ... Wonder how many of those are coming from older retired folks that are up early in the morning then eating supper & going to bed by 6:00 in the evening, lol....

I hear ya. Granted, we're not getting anymore daylight...that's a given. However what we do gain is an extra hour in the evening for whatever.... I'm sleeping early in the morning or on my way to work....though I'm an early bird by nature, I don't mind darkness in the morning. But hey, that's just me.

That ain't no lie... early in the morning I am at work whether its light, dark, rain, or shine...  so after work, my outside time is a precious commodity.
