The heads are on it?
Crusader said:Just got a call from Calverts......the motor is ready for pick up. For a teardown, inspection, polishing the crank, new oil pump, reassembly, gasket set and poly lock rocker nuts and 7 quarts of Joe Gibbs break in oil....$585.00 out the door. I'll pickup the motor today.
Hope James is ready to install this sucker tomorrow!
Cliff congrats now go out an enjoy it.Crusader said:Today was absolutely amazing. James and I busted our butts today in this wicked heat and got it all done right. Tomorrow is a lake test at where else?? Yep, pebble beach!!!!!
Thanks a gazillion James, you rock bro!!
Great news sounds like all the issues are finally fixed and good lessons learned for all of us.Crusader said:The lake test went well. The exhaust logs are a bear to keep tight enough to prevent exhaust leaks at the headers. I think I'm going to take the logs off in the fall and have them machined flat.
I put about three hours on the motor yesterday just cruising around the lake at about 3200-3400 rpms with an occasional stab on the throttle. The oil pressure was right at 80 psi when I first started the motor cold and after a while it dropped to just over 40psi once warmed up. I'm running the Joe Gibbs performance break in oil....30w. My plan is to drain the oil on Wednesday and replace with the Valvoline VR-1 50w.
Motor Head said:Maybe a little higher. 40psi is fine for hot oil psi. That's at low rpm right? It's probably around 50 psi cruising?
