We haven't mic'ed the motor yet, will do that tonight when we pull all the slugs out of it.

Brian said that the head is bad and recommends new heads.

If all other cylinders are good, sleeve it and hone the rest. If more than one are bad, bore it and buy some pistons.  :smile16:

I agree with all the rest.. you have it out of the boat & are this far into it, may as well get it all checked out & go from there. Shorcut now, may come sneak up on ya later. :wink:

I agree...no shortcuts are anticipated or planned for....the block will be completely torn down this evening and the block and pistons will be taken to the machine shop tomorrow..... All the cylinders will be measured and I'm sure it'll all be done correctly....Brian has 100% of my confidence......he knows what he's talking about and doing.

id leave the pistons in the bore, so they stay matched, if you reuse them, or number them and keep everything matched pistons to bore to rod end caps in the correct direction.

Nah its cause they knew the ford guys rebuilding them wouldn't know how to put it back together if they didn't number them.  Kinda like a paint by number picture, a build by number motor.

I guess they felt it was a gentleman's duty to do it rite. Don't just hand a man a mix bag o crap and expect him to make it run! think.gif That's my guess anyway! :smile16:

So what your saying is that ford guys tend to mix things up and not get them back together right unless they parts are labeled and the instructions are in crayon?
